Acoustic preference!

Yes!!! Going long!!!

And you never had desire to turn the amp to 11 and play heavily distorted power chords on electric guitar? :slightly_smiling_face:
Anyway, as others said, do what makes you happy - you are in this for yourself. :slightly_smiling_face:

You make a good point! That is kind of ironic! But my favorite sound is an unplugged Jimmy Page vibe. I was obsessed with him when I first discovered him in the late 90s. Led Zeppelin was just about all I listened to then. I used to dream that Jimmy was sitting on the end of my bed playing, ā€œGoing To California,ā€ while I was drifting off to sleep.

A little of both

Hi Carol!
My thoughts?
It’s YOUR GUITAR JOURNEY, just pick it up often & play for fun & good vibes down the road you love. Keep an open mind… no telling whether at some point in the future someone may ask you to play something on their electric & you discover a strange new love!
(I just found out recently that I like brussel sprouts, this after a lifetime of thinking they were terrible!!!:squinting_face_with_tongue:
Whatever you do, keep it loads & loads of fun!!!

You were right with both conclusions. Brussels sprouts can range from tender and delicious to tough, gritty, and bitter.

I suspect it was how my mom cooked ā€˜em… they’re absolutely delicious when tossed with olive oil & spices then popped in the oven to get nice and crunchy!

(My apologies to the OP for this mini-hijack😁)

It really depends on how you prepare them. Just make sure they’re not completely cooked through, they have to stay a bit crunchy.

how did a topic about acoustic guitar turned into a brussel sprouts recipe topic ???

OMG! Please, don’t anyone suggest that @Richard_close2u host a club session on songs dedicated to vegetables. Please, don’t. Too late.

ā€œVegetablesā€ -The Beach Boys
ā€œPeaā€ -Red Hot Chili Peppers
ā€œGreen Onionsā€ -Booker T. & the M.G.'s
ā€œHot Potatoesā€ -The Kinks
ā€œCall Any Vegetableā€ - Frank Zappa

Carol @latebloomerguitar
I would drop the word snob and just say you are an ā€˜acoustic guitar player’. Others might play classical, electric and any combination of the three, we are after all just guitar players.

I definitely spend more time on acoustic. doing a lot of campfire-style singalong jams and electric doesn’t lend itself to that.

but I LOVE electric blues and that’s a style I really want to lean into for electric. I’m still learning a lot of ā€œgeneralā€ guitar skills so I go back and forth a lot. but when I start working on blues, I pick up my electric.

I’m going to wind up with a resonator eventually because I love that steel resonator acoustic blues sound, too.

Late to the thread! Traveling without my guitar… bummmer.

I started with both acoustic and electric, but quickly dropped electric for several reasons. Mostly, as a deep dive geek, I was delving so far into the electric peripherals that I wasn’t learning to actually play the dang thing!

Additionally, although I like electric guitar music and would like to rip out solos, what really interests me is fingerstyle melodic acoustic and classical guitar music.

So now I exclusively play a wide nut fingerstyle 00 size steel string and a classical nylon (I also have a beat up but excellent flamenco guitar set up with JP Folk fingerstyle string. Unique, but I don’t yet play any flamenco). I still have my first electric (not really sellable) but the nut is too narrow for me nowšŸ™„

There is no right or wrong here, just play what you want. Justin’s course works for anyone at the beginning, but leans to Blues and electric style more heavily as you progress. There is still a lot for the acoustic player in his advanced courses, but it takes a little more cherry picking.

For full fingerstyle or classical course work, you may need to add courses from elsewhere. I say ā€œaddā€ because Justin’s course is invaluable and exceptional, as is his ethic, attitude and this community.

Thank you, catman! That’s solid advice! :revolving_hearts:

And I’m so loyal to Justin ever since I discovered him. Makes me kind of want to pick up electric because the way Justin’s teaches is gold. It’s a no lose situation. I still have a long way to go. I may get there eventually.

Dropped. Thanks for telling me I could edit that. It’s only my second post ever.

Just do what you enjoy. It’s that simple. You might later get the urge to try electric.

Funniest thing I’ve read in this forum in while. Really made me laugh :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes::grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:
