I know this post was made nearly a year ago, but I recently read that when recording “Wish You Were Here,” David Gilmour swapped out the strings on his acoustic for electric guitar strings. I can get some of those bends down but have never been able to nail that full-tone bend on the G string in the solo on my acoustic. It’s too gnarly!
Here’s a video of David playing this song on an acoustic in his studio. When he gets to that part of the solo, you can he opts for a slide instead, which is how I play it these days instead of the note being flat.
