Alison - Elvis Costello (JK cover)

I’m currently learning those 2 on the acoustic and I might add some electric fills. Unfortunately, Justin does not have a lesson on them and I spent some time finding a good tutorial. I found one, but it’s definitely not a beginner tutorial. It seems fun tough, I’ll keep you updated :grimacing:

Very nice JK.
Clean, and right in the groove.
Now we need some more mate…:smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Good to see you poking your head above the parapet and sharing again, JK
Good stuff indeed!
No nits from me on any aspect of the performance/production, even in mirror view
Moises certainly has it’s uses. I’d be tempted to use it instead of my Trio if I was doing a family & friends production. (@Will_E_Vander or @DeltaTyne, if either of you want to have a ‘test drive’ pm me with a song request and I can send you the stems or song without guitar).

Declan McManus is a bit of a genius songwriter/entertainer. What’s so funny about peace love and understanding? is on our Copenhagen setlist, although my favourite has to be After the Fall with Marc Ribot on guitar :open_mouth:
Keep it up, Dude :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Great work JK. Smooth, great sound and looking nice and relaxed. Watching all those barre chords did bring me out in a sweat :grimacing:.

Nice little pic in pic for the intro that to me sounded great. I was a bit of a Costello fan way back in the day and this was a really nice track. Timing with the stripped backing sounded great too :ok_hand:. Well done mate :+1:

I love Elvis Costello JK and you did a great job on that one. Moises and DAWs are mysteries to me :grinning_face_with_big_eyes: but they really worked for you there.
I’m especially impressed you learned it nitsuj style. :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:
No, joking aside that was a relaxed, confident performance.
Well done.

Lovely to hear you playing again, JK. Sounded so good. You are so smooth and relaxed with all those tricky shapes.

Now can you play and sing it? Would like that even more.

Thanks Shane! More coming soon-ish, but not too soon, I think.

Thanks Michal, I appreciate you stopping by.

Hi Hec, it’s AI software that allows you to separate the parts of a song, really useful for playing along with a recording.

Thanks Bri-Bri, another mirror view comment :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes: Moises makes it a lot easier to play along with a song than a Trio or similar drum track, that’s for sure.

Lol, thanks Craig. Barre chords are not so much of a challenge these days - play them enough and they’re as easy as open chords.

Thanks for the comment Oleg.

Those of us that aren’t natural singing performers have to lean into other strengths  Like playing in mirror view. Thanks Gordon.

After a while the tricky shapes get simpler. Still, anything where the pinky has a prominent role is a bit more challenging. Singing… well, not exactly a strength of mine

Hi Jk, is it a paid-for app Moises, and Hi, Brian Larson, I might take you up on that I am still getting into all this sort of stuff cheers HEC

Hi Brian I might take you up on that I am still struggling along with production etc, but getting better cheers HEC

How did your singing lessons go in the end? I remember, you started taking lessons a while ago? Did you get anything out of them? Are you still active on singing?

I, and am sure many others, would beg to disagree. I have always enjoyed your vocals. I can imagine that this would be tricky to play and sing due to those barre chord shapes and movement up and down the neck

Hi Jk, I’m happy to see you back recording and sharing! This one was really good…I loved the right hand soft sounding technique and the tone. Well done for the left hand workout.

Yep - and Moises is pretty easy to use. Getting the mp3s to feed into it is a bit more challenging if you’re not tech savvy.

I did, and they helped me a lot. I stopped when I realised I am never going to be a decent natural singer - the amount of practice required to just be passable was significant. My natural range is much deeper than almost all popular songs and ability to pitch is bad. So I’ve settled for being a poor singer but enjoying guitar. I just sing now when I feel like it but I don’t do any practice.

You’re too kind David.

Thanks for checking it out Silvia, I’m glad you enjoyed it.

That’s an enjoyable Rock song. Well done on all the Barre Chords and the Intro. You made it look so easy.

Like @metramaks commented, I need to check Elvis Costello out too.

Well I try, while always being sincere and genuine
