Silly me, I thought that was a text file for a tab. Appreciate that you pointed it out to me. Thanks again.
I figured it out. Someone posted how to change it. Thanks though and good tips. I actually made files for the 12 bar blues in G and E to play along with. I also made on for the blues riff in A. I think Iām gonna add drums and bass to them. It was fun making them.
@mrpickles You should always check the lesson specific topic - there is a direct link to every one from every single website lesson found by clicking the Discussion button below the video pane.
I have merged your post with the lesson specific (the one @Socio linked) where your answer was already posted above.

Loving this part of practice.
Listening to a lot of blues as suggested and realising a lot of the greats at times only use two strings to great effect when soloing. Trying to emulate them and feel the music as opposed to following a set pattern of chords is so inspiring. Listening to a backing track and responding is so immersive.
Yes, I am feeling the blues.
Itās amazing to literally feel the Am pentatonic scale practice paying off. Itās almost as if Iāve played this piece a long time ago but forgot about it.
Hi,
Seeing here it is possible to download backing tracks that can be used on Guitar Pro. Planning to follow this course further to Beginner 3 then intermediate. Are there more backing tracks comming in the future lessons? Just wondering as i am not sure if i should invest i Guitar Pro when i will mainly use it for backing tracks in the lessons. Or are there more backing tracks available included in guitar pro that can be used even if it is not part of the lessonās resource materials?
If you use your phone as your ābacking track playerā, the Guitar Pro app on the phone works nicely for that. It will not allow you to modify or create tracks, but you can change the tempo, which helps with practice, and the phone version is fairly cheap so itās almost a no-brainer.
I use the GP app on my iPad as well, for just that purpose.
BTW - Welcome to the community @Rykket Oyvind! Weād love to hear about your guitar journeyā¦consider saying hello to the wider community over on this page. Hope to see you around!
What is a .gp file?
That would be a Guitar Pro file. Justin includes Guitar Pro files as a resource in some of the lessons.
Probably a silly question ,but how do you find the backing track to play the solo with
Hi Bob, welcome to the Community! In this case, there is a backing track attached to the very first post in this topic. Iām not sure Iāve seen that before!
If itās your kind of thing, consider heading over to the Introduce Yourself page and telling us a bit about your guitar journey. ![]()
Hey Bob - the backing track that Justin is playing over in this lesson is embedded in the guitar pro file download in the resources section for the lesson. The one mentioned in the first post is a different one I think.
If youāve never used guitar pro, I suggest you try it. They have a 7 day free trial so you can test it out. Why not load this file into it and see what you think. You can get a 20% discount buying it through Justin I saw somewhere.
I find it an essential part of my learning journey and worth every last penny. Itās pay once and keep for life. No pesky subscriptions. They release new versions from time to time. Iāve got version 8 released 2022 which is still the latest. You can slow stuff down, loop it, disable or lower the volume of instruments and tons more. Nothing to lose with a free trial.
Good luck ![]()
Awesome, thanks!
Just dipping into this can you clear something the blues solo Justin states in in the key of A and we should know the A scale does he mean Am key and scale of Am, or A Maj key and scale
Unless specifically stated as key of A minor, any time you hear or read about āblues in the key of Aā you are safe to assume that it is āblues in the key of A majorā.
The scale used - counter intuitively - is the A minor pentatonic scale.
It should not work - major key / minor scale - but it is the sound of the blues.

thanks I think, what about the chords are they major minor or 7th
When the number 7 is added to a chord (short hand for dominant 7) it means the 7th note of the major scale is flattened. So an A7 is an A major chord with a flat 7 note added to the chord an Am7 chord is an Am chord with a flat 7 note added.
Not to be confused with a Maj 7 chord. Where the Maj 7 note is added AMaj7
Iām really struggling with this. I can play it through slowly from the screen but can`t for the life of me memorise the whole sequence without prompts. Iāve been trying for a couple of hours . Any tips for a 68 year old brain ? Plus I still get my TAB upside down at times but thats another thing to practice.
Still good fun though ![]()
Hi Tom, 71 old here just started this module I can play the first few bars from memory, but I have written out the TAB which is supposed to help memory donāt know if its true though just keep plugging on.
