I just wanted to add my 2c… I am a guitar begginer (1 year in journey) and first I bought Marshall Code 25 amp for home practice. I was kind of not happy with it, which we discused in this topic:
I also have a headphone amp Fender Mustang Micro, which is great. I like the simplicity and it is great for practice sessions at night. I use it with AKG K-240 MKII headphones. I find it great that is has bluetooth for recieveing sound from my tablet for Justin app or lessions videos.
Two months ago I sold the Marshall Code and bought “still affordable” Blackstar HT-5R MKii tube amp, and with this amp I am happy. The sound is great on both clean and OD channel and it is still not too loud for home sessions.
Thumbs up for the line input which is not offten a feature on these amps. This way I don’t need seperate speakers for backing tracks or whatever which makes life easier. I actually connect the Blackstar’s line input to the headphone jack of my Fender Mustang Micro amp and use it as a bluetooth module so that I can drive audio from my tablet to Blackstar.
So I cannot directly compare Blackstare with Fender modelling amp, but when comparing it with Marshall modelling amp, I really like my Blackstar much better.
