Blues Immersion on acoustic?

Can it be done? I have an electric, but I prefer acoustic.

There is a lot of focus on bends and getting to the point where you can really nail them. Obviously it can be done on an acoustic, but its a lot harder.

Some of the songs used as examples will also be hard on the acoustic, Crossroads or Mary Had a Little Lamb are examples. Sure, you can play them on acoustic, but probably not the exact same way as on an electric.

Having gone through the course, I’d suggest using your electric guitar, and then separately working to apply what you learn to the acoustic.

Maybe for now then I’ll just stick to going through the various tutorials that I have bought from Justin (pretty much everything) and True Fire. When I am ready to break out the electric I’ll then consider the Blues Immersion. Appreciate the response.

Have a look at this course which you can certainly do on acoustic. I believe you can try the first couple of lessons to see what its like before having to buy the full course.

Also depends on your strings if you’ll have fun. WIth standard 12-53 strings, you’ll certainly have difficulties with a lot of licks, but 10s as thinnest would be much nicer.

I think that’s a good idea. And suggest you’ll try to bond a bit more with your electric during the course!
Maybe use both during the course and see what happens.

Yes, the first song is played by Justin on acoustic, and of course you can do more on it, but the urgent advice often given by Justin and the teachers here is ‘use an electric’

I have this course, and I am working through this in tandem with a bunch of David Hamburger’s courses. I’m an acoustic fingerstyle blues player, and was hoping I could do the Blues Immersion course to help strengthen my skills on the acoustic. Electric looks cooler for sure, but the sound of the acoustic means I am glued to it. One day I’ll pick up my Telecaster.

Stuart, you can get a wide range of really great sounds out of a Telecaster. It’s such a cool guitar. So perhaps if you do BLIM and use your Tele for learning the bends, you might really bond with it. No it’s certainly not an acoustic, although I often play mine unplugged, but you may just get addicted to that Tele twang !
