Blues where I didn’t expect it

Two worlds collided today.

I’m working through blues guitar studies right now as a good way to get into improv. Really enjoying it.

I’m also looking to get a little outside of my punk rock genre and add a few more songs to my list.

I had my eyes on Revolution by the Beatles for a while but had never sat down to learn it. Went for it today and lo and behold it’s a twelve bar blues in B.
I’m also looking into When Love came to town by U2 and BB.
I loaded up some Clapton too and was surprised to find Concaine a gimme.

Clapton is blues from head to toe

Yeah I wasn’t surprised to find blues with Clapton more just how easy cocaine was. Was somewhat apprehensive about trying anything from Clapton

Great read Deborah, thanks for sharing.

I am with you @FunkyFingers
Once I started learning about the blues, i was sort of floored about what the music that I had known from the late 70 and early 80s as a young kid that was heavy blues influenced. Its totally cool tbh. :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

Try going back and listening to some of that early ZZ Top really wild.

I’ll repeat what I have been saying here for close to a decade.

The Blues pretty much under pins all modern music ie from the 60s onwards, so ignore it at your peril. Lost count of the folk here who have said that they don’t like the Blues and then drool over a song that is based on a 12BB or an 8BB.

That it is why it is wise not to skip any Blues lessons in Justin syllabus.

The Blues is everywhere, just open your ears !

Back to the Beatles… they started their journey meeting in record stores and in awe of early Rock and Roll stars like Bill Haley and Little Richard for example and many others of course, and most of that music was altered Blues, in lack of better words… I’m bad at those style and genre names  so I’m sure you’ll find more Beatles Blues songs, at least quite a few of their early covers are…
