Happy 8th anniversary David. This past year or two has certainly not been a great time for you health wise. I’m pleased to hear you feel things are improving. Hopefully you’ll get back to full contributor/moderator duties in the new year. I’ve missed the usual banter with you recently so I hope you’ll be up to that too.
I’m pleased you’ve got an original song ‘cooking’ as I always enjoy your originals.
Wishing you and yours a peaceful Christmas and a return to health in the new year and a return to full guitar and Community enjoyment in year 9.
Dear David,
You’ve been through a tough time and responded by doing what humans do best… keep on keeping on.
You’ve been a trooper and never once complained about the extra burden of moderator activity, when I’m sure it’s often been the last thing you felt like doing.
Hopefully, your collection interrelated of health problems has turned the corner, and 2025 will continue on the up and up.
Could I have the number of your dietician, please?
I wallow in those lovely warm shallow waters. No fear of getting out of my depth, or God forbid- drowning!
Be careful how long you leave that new song in the oven, it’s very easy to overcook an original ![]()

On the other hand , thanks for always been here to give advices and encourage players and beginners like me even though you had health issues to deal with
I hope 2025 will be a better year for you
Hi David, I never knew completely through what you are going health wise and I can just admire your will power. I wish you a much better 2025 in every possible aspect of life. I hope you have a good end of the year break and I look forward to listening your songs in OM / community next year. ![]()
Hello David - you’ve certainly had a few downers over the last couple of years but you’ve lived by your motto of keep on keeping on… sharing you’re knowledge, experience, support, friendship, music and AI artwork with us whilst keeping the rogue ones like Brian in check. Once again thank you for taking the time to mentor me through the process of producing full band originals. Wish you and your family all the best for the festive period and hope the new year brings you good health and happiness. Look forward to hearing your next original.
David. Sorry to hear about your health issues and hope that things are finally getting better for you.
All the best for Christmas and the New Year.
David,
I am truly sorry for your ongoing health problems and love to read that there are health related things going in a good direction now!
I always enjoy your kind of humour! And regarding your singing, I recently listened to you in an open mic where you played Viva la Vida and was asking myself while listening… What was that voice sounding like so much…?
Then it came to me… Edwyn Collins! You sounded very much like him! He had a few great songs at the time! You remember “A girl like you”?
Anyway, I hope the best for your health - may good things await you around the next corner!
Dominique
Nice to read your annual review, David. A challenging year, but you made it through. Here’s to a happy and healthy 2025, whatever guitar and other life adventures are in store. (And very glad to hear your son is okay after a car accident!)
David, I’m glad that I read your 8th JGversary update. I made the mistake of reading your learning log from the beginning and never got to the last few years. You’ve certainly had your challenges, but I am happy to hear that you think you have turned the corner and on the mend. I hope the 2025 brings good health and much guitar enjoyment. Thanks for all the helpful advice and encouragement you have given me over the last two years.
Steve L.
Happy 8th JGversary! You have accomplished a lot in that time even when life has thrown you some less than ideal circumstances. Bravo

I really enjoyed both your original compositions and your OM performances this year. Happy to hear we may get treated to another original in the coming year
I’m with Brian on this one- don’t leave it “cooking” too long ![]()
Looking forward to hearing what comes next from you in 2025 ![]()
I was happy to read your update for the year. I have evidently missed out on some of your posts and was concerned about you and your health. Glad you are doing better now. You continue to take good care of yourself, special friend all the way back from 2016!
David, I read your last entry with great interest. I’m very sorry to read about all those health struggles and the related side effects you were going through. Out of own experience, I know how much strength and power is needed to keep life up during those periods
.
Although I missed your thoughtful and wise comments here on the forum, I’m sure it was simply a personal need to reduce your presence and care about yourself!
I think you reached a lot within those 8 years on JG, maybe more than you might see. I always enjoyed your performances a lot and your will to share knowledge and encouragement with others.
Thank you for being who you are, I wish you all the best in every part of your life. I hope you can recover your health soon
!
Happy holidays to you and your family!
Happy 8th anniversary David. I hope 2025 brings you better health and a lot of happiness.
Thank you all, the support and encouragement is always greatly appreciated
@Jozsef we are so fortunate that this community is generally encouraging and requires almost no moderation. I agree, music is a great gift.
@Richard_close2u I am enjoying the break. Appreciate your support and understanding. And hopefully in 2025 I will be back in full force.
@sclay you are always so kind, amazing how quickly 4 years pass. And now you are well acquainted with the entire neck and play wonderfully.
@MAT1953 and to you and yours!
@TheMadman_tobyjenner it sure does! Yup, the tortoise always finishes the race and luckily music isn’t a race. We shall see.
@roger_holland I recall all your struggles, makes mine seem far less severe. Amazing how much influence diet can have, though I guess it shouldn’t be a surprise
@sairfingers appreciate that, and just enjoyed your latest, always a treat
@brianlarsen I believe so, and feel so much better now. Just need to recharge those rundown batteries. Yup, you and me in the shallow end, though your ability to entertain and perform is something special
@GrumpyMac yeah, I recall your views on AI and art gen . . . sorry about that. I know you have your share of challenges, far greater than my own. So we shall encourage, support and keep moving on
@Boris1565 appreciate those wishes
@Socio it was a pleasure to offer some support when you dived into the full band productions, it’s the ethos of the Community that I love so much, we all receive help from somebody and pass it on to someone else in time.
@Stuartw thaks and same for you and yours
@domi7 glad the humour goes down well for you, I try. Yes, I know just that song of Edwyn Collins. Perhaps I should dust it off. Here’s a rendition from a year ago https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YBSswzxhe-E
@Mari63 thanks for the wishes, and talking about health with you just seems wonrg. Hope you are doing OK, have wa wonderful Christmas. PS Personal Best Daily rating is now 1359.
@SteveL_G99 that was a major mistake, time you just can’t get back
Always been a pleasure, glad to try and be of some assistance
@Jenndye429 yeah, maybe this original is still just a few ingredients on the counter and an idea. Quite what will be the trigger to actually run with it, who knows.
@pkboo3 we’ve come a long way together. Always been a pleasure!
@Helen0609 thanks, appreciate that, you sum things up well. I am in good shape now, just recharging the old batteries.
@TonyHS thanks, appreciate that
Hi David ,
Actually, I would like to add that every problem that has a major impact on someone’s life should not be compared to each other and certainly not to say that it doesn’t seem to be that bad for you… I got to know someone someone without legs with a lot of thrombosis and lung problems, 2 heart attacks and loss of use of one of his arms (and other things)… and he doesn’t play the guitar
… ![]()
That makes me almost 100% healthy.
All the best and ![]()
Oh - wow - you had done that already! Nice rendition - thank you! I should go through all of your log, it seems you’ve done quite a lot of covers! And finally I’ll have to post some cover myself!
All the best to you,
Dominique
Thanks Dom. Yeah, lots of covers, some better than others
If you visit my YouTube channel you’ll see I have create some Playlists, which includes covers, originals, collaborations and some improv.
And you have no reason to change what you play and share, always a treat
Hi David, good your health issues are improving and gradually finding the path to retake your regular activities. Good also too having seen you participate again in the community OMs. Hope the break makes a lot of good for you.
@dobleA Thanks very much, appreciate it
Hi David, I was displeased to read about your health issues…it’s been a tough unlucky year in my house too, with my husband’s suffering from broken ribs since last December…no tears nor heavy swearing from my part prevented him to keep on working and out of necessity and pain he eventually stopped in April with 4 broken ribs! One will never heal at this point and he’s still home from work. And while he will need a new job new balances have been and will be found along the way…as life is now and today and we all have a right to some happiness through the means we have. Music and guitar are much consolation!
But soon back to Guitar talks! Congrats on your 8th Anniversary! I hope you feel very proud for all you have been able to achieve…which seems quite a lot when you can share your music with people! I much enjoyed all you have shared this year and specifically what I recall in my ears is the gentle sound of your acoustic strumming! I was happy to read that the OMs and sharing with us has been helpful to you and gave some direction and meaning to your practice.
Hopefully 2025 will give us less challenges, but whatever they’ll be might the guitar be both our shield and sword.
