Deftones (7 Words & Fireal)

Hi all,

Been working on these two for a while, probably a few month combined, I recorded one of them back over the Christmas break and forgot about it, so I’m posting two today.

I’m trying to challenge myself with much faster paced songs, and new techniques / things on each song. 7 Words is fast, and has some string bending in it (first time), took ages to get it sounding OK, could do with some work. The intro riff to Fireal has been a nightmare, even though the fretting hand doesn’t do much, the picking hand was awful to get up to speed, 132bpm and string skipping It’s still not perfect as you can see I’m concentrating hard on it. Chunking helped immensely here, far better than most other techniques, additionally the song is in 7/4 - a new one for me, and is 6 minutes long.

Explicit lyrics in the song incase anyone is bothered by it.

Hi Rick, this is not exactly my genre of Music and I don’t know neither the band or the songs…needless to say I’m unable to understand the Lyrics as I’m not a native english speaker…well apart for the repetetive F…

And while I don’t even play the electric guitar I can see how you’re doing an incredible job on the guitar on both songs.

I agree, chunking does miracles one can’t even imagine!

:exploding_head::confounded_face: So scaring!

Thanks! I’m starting to finally feel like I can actually play the guitar now, after struggling a lot mid-last year, the past 3-4 months I’ve progressed a lot. Hard work pays off!

I liek to see black and pointy guitars once in a while and i love it when they don’t disappoint.

You’re not afraid of time signatures, changes in groove and solid workouts! Deftones is no easy feat and many of the challenges lie in the silences between the notes, not the notes themselves.

Great playing!
