Depressed and don't know where to post this

Hey Scott!

Just clicked…

Indiana? Have you ever visited the Sweetwater store? I’ve never made it there but it’s on my ā€œBucket Listā€ā€¦ maybe the same trip to see the Indy 500!!!

A Sweetwater visit might cheer you & you could possibly meet some like-minded people from near where you live!!! A Double Bonus!!!

I haven’t been to it. I’d LOVE to visit a guitar store. Unfortunately no wheels, so anything I’d need to go to is tricky. But I still HIGHLY appreciate the suggestions. I LOVE your wall mount for your guitars. And your pink amp! That’s so cool. I need better storage for my guitars. Cool talking with you!

Thanks for choosing my thread to make your first post in! What are you working on today if anything?

I did my dailys already. (Daily practice routine with the practice assistant). Now I am working on Boom Boom base a blues song. The rest of the evening will be Gallows Pole, a finger picking song and some work on 1980s movie soundtrack songs and music. Plus a rehash of some of the finger picking patterns with my little 3/4 guitar, while the wife and I watch a movie late tonight maybe.

Sweet :sign_of_the_horns:t2: I was working on HR Puffnstuff last week. Those were some cool show back in the day.

Hi Scott

I can relate to your brave post, learning and playing an instrument can be a lonely place and others not necessarily musicians can be judgemental as well.

Something that occurred to me as I am doing JG’s BLIM course at the moment, we have a buddy/study groups organised by region in countries. We zoom call each once a month, this works very well to chat about guitar issues, music and get support from each other. I was thinking that maybe you could reach out on Justin Guitar and see others might be interested in forming a group with you, or possibly the moderators I think about setting up an area for this to bring people together zoom groups.

If you do put up, I would just say where you live what you like to get from, I’d be surprised if no one was interested.

Hi Scott. I am glad to read you pick up your guitar and play and it gives you joy. That is prerequisite for other things.
I almost quit guitar after a year, as it felt lonely playing without any social interaction. Luckily Justin sorted that out with his fb group first, then this community - the best guitar online community. You should already know by now how supportive and nice people are here.

Around year 2, I became more active overall and found a place where I play with people. I understand that is what you are looking for. If yes, Paul’s advice is exactly what you should do - be active, search for the schools, events, etc. I am 100% sure you will find something. That inital step is not easy and can be intimidating. But once you are over that hump, it is much easier. Things just roll on its own. :slightly_smiling_face:

Tod That’s great to keep some guitars at work as well. I thought about that then decided I probably wouldn’t get much work done anymore.

Love the pink amp.

I’m also sorry to hear your lonely but totally get it. My husband has cancer & my guitar fills up my life & mind & keeps me focused, even when I’m wondering what direction I’m going with my guitar. I’m in SLC, UT & would be happy to be your guitar friend, but I’m older than dirt, 82. We also have a cat, a pet is a great pick me up!

The pink amp…

there’s a back story there. When my youngest daughter was about 7 or 8, she totally fell in love with pretty much everything Hello Kitty related.

Her room was all Kitty stuff… all done in pink & white & it was pretty adorable. My wife & I thought she’d outgrow Hello Kitty, but she didn’t…
on her sixteenth birthday in 2006 we found this:

along with a hot pink strap, pink capo, pink picks & a hot pink sparkly tuner… I looked all over for an inexpensive amp that wasn’t black to no avail. It was about a week before her birthday & I had to run to our local music store to buy a set of strings for my acoustic - I’d snapped the high e string. So I was chatting with the store owner about our daughter’s birthday & that I still needed an amp & that I would prefer pink. He was like, ā€œReally! Wait right there!ā€ He came out of the back room with the Vox DA5 in a box… said he’d ordered some of these in various colors (red, green, brown, blue & pink of course) but they weren’t really selling too well so he gave me a big discount!!! It’s a battery powered amp that I had to buy a dc adapter for (which is lost forever) so it runs on 4 ā€œCā€ batteries! Fun little amp!!!

It’s light & super portable!
Have fun!!!

I don’t play it…

It’s all closed up in a closet waiting for our daughter to reclaim it… she has a really small place without much space…

As a matter of fact, I had to sneak the amp out under some blankets we were donating!!!

Sorry, the office I work in has a lot of people who are always finding the naughtiest meanings to things others say… especially any comments about ā€œsizeā€!!! :upside_down_face:

Besides, I was only pretending to be shocked!
