Even, even more real people 🤯

Always on best behaviour with the first visit
I am however playing the long game and waiting for the rumbling of a rockin’ rollstuhl to roll up my path…

I had another very enjoyable session with @Richtrfc this morning, but this time the mountain went to Mohammed, so no skulls in the background
Some months ago, I planned on playing The Sound of Silence with @Willsie, but the dates have not been kind and, whilst waiting for his return, Richard from up the road and I decided to have a bash at it.
It’s funny how you can feel quite comfortable playing a song on your own, and everything falls apart when you try to do it with someone else. Just another form of red-light fever, I suppose…
Anyway, Richard set his ipad and usb mic rolling and this is what came out the other end.
I probably should have checked whether he was ok with me sharing in public
Cheers, Richard

@Richtrfc you must have been a good influence on Brian with the guitar playing here :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: …

I enjoyed the video very much :grinning_face_with_big_eyes:

It’s always great to see people connect for real from an online community. And the outcome of that session was most enjoyable!

Thanks for sharing.

Liked how you used a capo to blend the guitar tones.

Well Brian, if I had known we were doing an AVOYP I’d have combed my hair and stopped my shirt sleeve button keeping time on the guitar body!
I only started learning Sound of Silence three weeks ago so was quite pleased that I managed to keep up with the chord changes. And our timing wasn’t too bad, I’m sure @JustinGuitar would approve of the coordinated strumming hands
As has been said it’s thanks to the JG community spirit that Brian and I met up, and I’m really enjoying playing with the like minded @brianlarsen ! It’s a very good way of improving one’s playing and enjoying a good sing.

Hehe, shoulda got Chris Goldring to join us on fiddle- Two Docs & a Prof.
Cheers Toby.

Life’s all about ā€˜connecting’
Vielen Dank!

I do sometimes listen to the pearls our sensei casts
Cheers, mate

Which one?
Your button was slappin’ time like the windshield wipers in Bobby McGee…
And just for the record, this is not an AVOYP. I’m taking great care not to clog up the forum with excessive posts  It’s an ā€˜appropriate share’ in a pre-existing thread.
But yes, good to meet up and play again

Very well done chaps, you done good.
I have been to the Wirral twice since our get together. You were away the first time and the second was a real flying visit to meet extended family while celebrating our latest granchild’s birthday. You’ve now got to nominate another song, Brian, for our eventual meeting. We are coming up around the weekend of the 12th/13th April. Pick something easy and we could have a bash then.

Nicely done. Enjoyed both the music and singing. I’m hoping to get to this level someday.

You guys really got it goin’ early into it. Great job! Wondering, what did you use for a mic? I seem to have trouble getting the guitar volume level even with the voice. Also wondered if you used an iPhone or computer video software program. Picked it up well. I enjoyed it. Do more please.

Cheers, Ronald. Much appreciated

Stick with Justin and the program and you’ll be there in no time. Seriously. This is not very complicated stuff, and I have an awful reputation for sloppy playing

Thanks Jim,
Tbh, I don’t know what mic @Richtrfc used. I’m pretty sure it was a usb one. The most important thing with mics is placement. It’s amazing how much difference it makes, moving it closer to a guitar, or raising it up to mouth level when you’re singing. (We just plonked it on a chair equidistant from all the sources). Mobile phones by and large are very good at recording as well

Very simple set up, a Snowball Ice Blue mic and a usb c hub (from Amazon) plugged into my iPad and just videoed without any clever software. Records well into GarageBand as well. As Brian said we just plonked the mic on a chair. An impromptu recording session!
