I didnât know how Gibson can prevail when so many guitar makers have a Les Paul clone in their catalog, and Gibson does nothing about them. They may well be seen as having abandoned any claim to the design. Weâll see.
They sue everyone they can. The body shape itself I am not sure they can do a lot about but there must be something specific here.
They sued a guy making 8-9 Vs a year and he had to change his design.
Gibson have as many lawyers as Disney.
They prevail because they have the brand kudos, every other LP in the world isnt a Gibson, no matter how good or bad it is as a guitar.
However reliable press reports are, one I read says Gibson pointed to the shape. And sent a âcease and desistâ letter, not filed a suit.
âA representative from Gibson confirmed the manufacturer issued a cease and desist order to the owner of Trump Guitars, 16 Creative, saying their designs infringe upon Gibsonâs trademark of the Les Paul body shape.â

While I could use a strat in my arsenal, and I really do love cats, a hello kitty guitar ainât what I think I need.
However I would do a hello kitty guitar any day of the week over that other overpriced POS. All Iâll say about that is I hope Gibson wins! Most embarrassing for Gibson that it resembles a Les Paul.
Wow, Trump guitars⌠do they play only out of tune or what? A Trump pedal that turns the note you play into another random note would make more sense.
I donât care for him either but this is a thread about Hello Kitty guitars. Letâs keep politics out of it because it always ends up getting hateful

Back to Hello Kitty: Iâm loving the love this is getting over on Reddit. Metal and punk folks (mostly guys) embracing the pink guitar and fuzz pedal! Iâm all over itâŚif I had an excuse to get one, I would try to find one. Irony can be so much fun. Too bad I donât have a pink guitar emoji!

Iâd be with you, Toby, except that I have a nice SG I havenât touched in over a year. Best wait until I (a) improve my skills so I can (b) expand my musical horizons. And possibly (c) sell the SG I havenât bonded with.

I actually HAVE a Hello Kitty Squire in a closetâŚ
When my daughter was 16 (1998 or so), we bought her a Hello Kitty guitar, pink capo, pink strap, pink cables & a pink Vox DA-5 amp (that I have in my office at work-itâs my practice amp!) which she played around with for a year or two & then abandoned! When she moved out during her college years, the guitar stayed in her old bedroom closet & itâs still there!
It hadnât been used/strings changed/tuned since about 2005!!! I took it out when I saw this thread & checked it⌠tuned it up & it doesnât really need much attention! Intonation & action are still really good⌠little bit of fret sprout & the fretboard could stand some lemon oil⌠itâs ready to Rock!!!
I just canât seem to get any songs to play on it⌠unless theyâre covers of Pink Floyd, Pink or Pink Martini!!!
