First post

First post and beginning older player (56)… my name is Rob and I have always wanted to learn guitar since I was about 16… so 40 years later I finally feel I’m ready and have been working on grade one on the Justin guitar app. I just wanted to say hello and introduce myself. I don’t have any really musical inclination or talent but I find playing to be fun, relaxing and satisfying as I very slowly learn new skills. I’m just outside New York City. Thought I’d mention it as I see some folks sharing all the wonderful places around the world they are from. Also wanted to connect with other folks as I thought it would be fun!

Hi Rob, thanks for posting. I dreamed of playing for many years and finally got serious about it when I was 53, some 14 years ago now. My wife has commented many times she so glad I did because the experiences we’ve had and the people we’ve met as a result have been wonderful.

It’s a challenge at first but hang in there as the reward is really wonderful, being able to pull a song (or 2 or more) out of your back pocket whenever you feel like it is just plain magic. Worth all the hard work. And once you get into it you’ll be amazed that it’s not as hard as you fear it might be, albeit not as easy as any of us hope. haha.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Hi Rob,
Welcome here and I wish you a lot of fun :smiling_face_with_sunglasses:

And that is the most important thing there is. So it’s good that you’re looking for it and you will certainly find it here

Learning to play the guitar well will be a slightly bigger challenge, but just day by day or better practice by practice song by song… actually it’s also very easy :upside_down_face:, just pick up that guitar and follow the lessons here, it doesn’t get any easier

Greetings,Rogier

Welcome. Your musical inclination was to start. So thats a big one. Also bwing near NYC is good lots of music there, and people to play with once you get to a level where you will be able to do that also lots of gear there. You are lucky to live in an area that has such a large surplus of nice used gear, you just need to find some in good condition to learn with.
