The new version is in the UK iOS app store now (in different regions your mileage may vary!

The latest version 3.12.2 on Android is recognizing the changes now in the One Minute Exercise. So, I’m happy with the new version as that was my original complaint.

Thanks all and Musopia!

Tony.

The latest update fixed it for me as well. But I sorta feel like it’s not picking up a D chord like I should sometimes. Or like it did before.

Just updated mine and still have the same problem

1 minute changes works for some but not all

Issue not resolved for 1minute changes @MusopiaApps

I am also having this issue, even after the latest updates. The glitch does not only fail to count, it also sometimes counts when I’m not strumming. For example, I can do D to A chords pretty fast, like 40-70 changes per minute. After 1 minute, the app has counted 12. On the other extreme, I am very slow doing C to G chords. In 1 minute, I can only do maybe 15-20. The app marks me as 50. And I’m watching as the counter goes up while I’m still positioning my fingers and not strumming at all.

So while we wait to get this glitched fixed, I have a question. Has anyone tried using a midi cable and has it helped the phone and app count better? I have an acoustic/electric so I can use one of these — and they are fairly cheap. But I don’t want to buy one if it won’t do any good.

I CAN, of course do my own counting, but I get distracted in my count and I really like this feature, because it lets me focus on the chords and it gives me a couple of beats to get my fingers on the strings. Anyway, I’d love to know if anyone’s using a midi cable.

You are not alone. I get wildly different counts from the app too (as a 2month old newbie)

One way to think about this (making lemonade…)
It’s another level of multitasking to practice,
Chord changes, finger positions, rhythm, words, toe tapping, strumming, and now COUNTING…

Mine is literally at ZERO. It’s useless.

Hi @aespo, this is a question that comes back regularly. Different users have indeed reported that the app has difficulty picking up chord changes. This could be due to a number of things (the guitar not being in tune, the app software not being good enough, the mic of your phone not being a great match with the app, the sound level of your guitar being to low, esp if you’re playing an electric, the resonance of the previous chord ‘camouflaging’ the next one, confusing the app, …). By far the easiest thing is to count the changes yourself.

Was this ever fixed? Having the same issue. Isn’t an issue for A to D. Is for A to E and D to E. It’s a real pain and makes the practices module near useless which is why I went with JustinGuitar in the first place.

Yes, that’s what what we all had to do in the earlier versions of the app. The nice feature was that you just had to add your Count into the app, and it would keep track of your progress from day-to-day.

The one minute changes exercise is extremely powerful for beginners… Don’t let software problems keep you from doing it!

Thanks for the encouragement. However, I have the app because of its simplicity and efficiency experienced with the first module in the trial period. I feel frustrated and a bit duped that the one thing I really liked about the app and made it justifiable to pay for suddenly doesn’t work as I advanced to the immediate next module.

I think I have found that as well, especially the G to D. I’ve learned the G chord as three and four fingered G which for me are better for a lot of beginner open chord songs like R.E.M’s The One I Love and Poison’s Every Tose Has its Yhorn and easier open chord Oasis songs. Also better for Don’t You Forget About Me by Simple Minds. The app does recognise the 3 fingered G at times but not the 4 fingered G.
