Generale - F. De Gregori

Beautiful playing Silvia but also very nice singing :musical_note:. I thought your strumming was nice and even and very relaxed. Great job.

Hi Brian, thank you so much for your honest feedback.

I’m aware I have an issue with this, which you put down with very clear words

When I listen to music my foot tap follows it…when I practice the metronome or the original recording helps me to develop the good habit of tapping my foot…when I play I’m now aiming to rely both on the foot tapping and on my internal time feeling, which I guess carries with it a lot more than the objective steady beat.

That said I do practice a lot with the metronome and I put a lot of effort in coordinating the strumming hand with the foot tapping because it makes me feel good developing this skill and when you feel good it sounds good too somehow.

Most of the Musicians I see live they don’t tap their foot, there was this pianist last saturday, he played and sung beautifully with so much feeling without tapping his foot, if not occasionally and inconsistently… and nevertheless we all sung along and were immersed in the music and in all those stories we were singing about.

I find it much fascinating, reasoning about all this, reasoning about Music above all. In the meanwhile I know I’m not an accomplished musician like that pianist and I’ll keep on doing my homework with my best friend the metronome :smiling_face:

Thank you so much Phil for your kind words! Maybe perfect it was not…but it made me perfectly happy to be able to play, sing and share it with all of you…and that’s already waaay more than a lot!

Pam @pkboo3 thank you for listening and your kind comment! Please read this reply from the beginning for the tapping issues…it feels better to know we’re not alone in our struggles.

Thanks @Eddie_09 for your kind words…they’re much appreciated!

Hello Silvia. I was failing to relate your strumming, your tapping leg and the playing. So I muted the sound and watched as best I could. Your strumming hand was nice and rhythmic I feel but the leg seemed to be doing its own thing. The hand and leg seemed a little disconnected. Got me thinking if all of us perhaps think our foot is keeping perfect time but it doesn’t appear that way to an observer. I suppose you just keep working on it and with your undoubted musicality, which we all hear, you’ll get the leg to do its work.
