Guitar Challenge (Improv) - Layla style Backing Tracks

Yeah that would be a great song to do i think, what do you mean though?

The Layla intro or chorus chord progression is fairly simple. I assume he means you play the chords into your looper and then jam away. I did that on my first couple of attempts before having a go over this BT.

Ahh ok i gotcha thanks David!! Maybe that will be my next project!!! That or knocking on heavens door, cant decide lol.

Very nice! Great stuff going on there. Love the double-stops and the phrases. So glad to see all this lead play going on these days, and being done so well. Dig it!

Clint, Trevor, Mari and Darrell - many thanks!

Haha, that’s how it felt. Like you just had an exciting day and wanted to tell a story and were so excited you couldn’t stop talking.

That was awesome and there were really interesting bits like double stops. I loved the lick at 1:12-1:13, it has lots of potential. I want to learn something similar to be able to throw in a fast lick like that during improvisations.

Towards the end it started to feel like you stiffened up a bit, or am I imagining things?

Hi Kamil many thanks for the listen and aporeciatr honest feedback! The lick was a classic bluesy one I took long time ago from Justin’s blues licks module which is full of tasty stuff. Was difficult to do those little quick runs to this BT to me, the rhythm was quite slow and in my dry runs just couldn’t do it too much, glad it worked out here!

Man I got so tensed up while trying to play it back to back with no hickups, unfortunately few wrong ideas and bumps totally bummed me down and hence this stiffness you described! Oh well wash rinse repeat as they say, lesson definitely learnt on this one!

Again thanks for the listen and pozdro!

I know the feel. Happens especially when you record.

Oh yes the infamous RLS (Red light syndrome) we all know so well

My first post of myself playing. This a song I learned a year ago and just never recorded myself. I really don’t record myself much, which I am now going to do more of.

This week I kind of had to relearn this and I realized how much I’d forgotten  But I think I actually play it better now, although i had some difficulty at the end as you’ll hear. But I think I recovered it ok in the finale. I couldn’t try again… It was my 4th attempt and I ran out of time to record another time.

I’m not improvising here. I learned this from someone. Hope that’s ok. Have a great day!

I’d love any feedback, positive as well as constructive!!

That’s really good, very well constructed and mirrors the actual content pretty accurately.
Sensational first post!

Wow that as a terrific first AVoYP. I know how difficult that song is as I’ve been messing with it on and off for ages.

Looking forward to more from you now Enrique since you’ve decided to record more often.

Enrique

For a half step, that was one huge step in to the world of AOVYP ! And what an entrance.
A few of us here have been dancing with the Layla solo, so its great to see someone new playing it as well. As Darrell said certainly mirrored the OT in many ways. Sounding good a great first post.

Cheers

Really nice work Enrique! You’ve held the groove and played with dexterity. As you relaxed into it later in the recording I could see you have a style that that adds to the appeal of your video.
