Thanks for the welcome all
Hey David
Welcome to the community. You are right at the age I was when I started learning guitar, thanks to Justin. Now, well over 10 years later I can say all the effort is so very worth it. Being able to pick up a guitar and crank out a tune is such fun.
That must just be what you do when starting out. 44 and just picked up the hobby a year ago to the month. I did the same thing though. Signed up for fender play first and then found Justin’s YouTube channel which lead me to the site. I tried using both for awhile, but ended up feeling so much more fulfilled using Justin’s course that I stopped using fender. Welcome to the community and your journey!
Welcome David
If your fingers are hurting, you are either pressing down too hard on the strings, or your guitar is not wet up correctly, or both.
If you live near San Angelo, TX, I would gladly show you how to set up your guitar and how to press the strings properly. It is really easy to do. Email me at Lee@fba.cc I do not charge you or anyone else a fee for this. It is just a long time hobby of mine. Lee C Fisher

Hi David, welcome to the community. There are a lot of great things to learn, especially Justin’s song lesson videos on the website. Enjoy learning songs.
Hello David.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and the Community.
Justin > Fenderplay
There are many good folk here who will happily offer help and encouragement to those coming up behind them on Justin’s Beginner Courses. They embody and carry the pay-it-forward ethos we have nurtured for many years in our community. There are many old hands too who have years and (hopefully) a bit of wisdom they can bring as they give their support to those hitting the road blocks - which we all do.
Just ask if you need anything else.
Cheers

Hi David, welcome. Good you found Justin Guitar and is helping you to learn to play your guitar(s). You may not want to renew your fender play subscription, but if you have still have some time (and money) left on it you can once in a while go back to the lessons that were not leading anywhere and do some practice with it. Thank to Justin Guitar now they can make sense. If they still don’t make sense then ditch them altogether. Have fun.
Welcome, David. Keep it up. It will open up a new world for you.
I’m a 63 yr old newbie myself on guitar. Had previous experience on bass in a band so I know how it can lead to good things.
Bruno from NZ.
41 days on since you posted so I hope you fingers are less sore, probably not I suspect.
But hey at least you arrived here with Justin and for sure if you stick to the path, you will make good progress.
Welcome to the Community.

Well, I just finished my first year of learning, and mostly my fingers don’t hurt much now!
