I’m András from Hungary, currently living in Budapest. I recently uploaded my first recording to this forum, and was advised there that I should say hi to all of you here, so that we can have a bit more interaction.
I learned classical guitar back in elementary and high school, but I was never that fond of it (I didn’t like practicing and weren’t really inspired by any of it). Then during my later highschool years, my guitar playing mainly consisted of playing the most basic chords around the campfire in scout camps.
During university I didn’t touch the instrument at all, but around a year ago, I decided that I should start learning again from the basics (first on my old acoustic, but once I had some success, I decided to buy an electric guitar and an amplifier). Now it seems like that this will be a permanent hobby of mine, as I really enjoy the process of getting better and the feeling that I can actually play some stuff that sounds cool. In the beginning I progressed quickly (mostly because I already had some muscle memory and hand strength), but now I feel like I am reaching the point where I can find challenges wherever I look.
I joined this community because I challenged myself to learn, play and record 10 songs (more or less) properly before going on from Grade 3, and wanted to share the progress. I still have a couple modules left, but I started playing around with recording software and technology, because I find it tons of fun.
I’m looking forward to interacting with more people on this forum, hope to see you all around!
Welcome and i wish you a lot of fun
And it is good to see and hear that you have really learned something from previous guitar adventures because you quickly picked playing up for that short time on electric
Greetings,Rogier
Hi Andras, welcome to the community! It’s a great place to join, lots of nice fellow students here. Ask for feedback or advice whenever you need. Good to hear, that you’ve picked up guitar agai, a good decision for sure. Have a lot of fun!
I saw your video post of Californication - well done!!! Enjoyed listening & watching your work on that song!
Also, I think it’s a really good idea to work on “perfecting” 10 songs before moving on… I am in a similar mode at the end of Grade 2… trying to truly LEARN songs & know them by heart without any tab or sheet music.
I too played classical for a while when I was a child but it’s not what guitar was to me in my head and I seemed to do more theory than practical, not idea when you are 9 years old.
Welcome, András. I’m glad you started up your guitar journey again. I started for the first time nearly a year ago. If you want to have a place for documenting your progress, I’d suggest the Learning Log section if you haven’t found it already. (I really need to update mine!)
