Hello from James ... How I began - by making guitars!

I got sick and tired of poisoning myself. I got the idea from a company in Ireland called Ddivil then I started using car wrap. It not the easiest thing to do but it sure beats painting.

particularly poisons that show symptoms resulting from exposure way down the road…

It was definitely a leap of faith (and fear), but I do get a lot of satisfaction from the process. Here is a picture of my 4 “Children” in the order I made them from left to right.

Welcome, and happy picking and strumming on those fine hand-made guitars. They look awesome!

Thank you. I never expected so many uplifting responses. It my bucket list to be good as I can get.

Hello James.
Guitar builder and musician!

Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard

Thank you for the encouragement. I have taken up the guitar because I can’t build or design another guitar because I have too many of them. I am retired and I never expected to have so much time on my hands. I am not a luthier by any means but I pretty much know everything when it comes to the to design and setup of a guitar. I have made some very interesting ones some with Obsidianwire modules mounted backwards because I am a lefty and others made of vinyl. Painting is extremely bad for your health and these guitars are completely environmentally friendly. Now I have to devote my time to learning how to play them. I just might take you up on that offer for private lessons because I feel like I am really struggling even though I practice every day for hours. I am taking the musical theory course along with Justin’s lessons. We will just say this is on my bucket list. Glad I got the opportunity to talk to you.
