I am Alan I’m in my early 50’s and started learning with Justinguitar in 2019 having never previously picked up a guitar.
I am very grateful for such an amazing resource and have achieved more than I ever thought I would, having lots of fun and some frustrations along the way.
I guess I am around early intermediate level, though I started on the older classic system, and dip into the new courses.
I have a Yamaha Pacifica and also a Yahama APX 500. I am not committed to the brand I just happened to win those bids on eBay and they seem fine to me for the time being. I have recently bought a Boss Katana MK2 amp that is adding to the playing enjoyment factor.
Some of the bands I like include Travis, Green Day, The Smiths/Johnny Marr, Richard Ashcroft, Black Lace but I am open to discovering what other people like and often go off on listening/playing tangents.
I was very impressed with the recent open mic 3 performances and this has inspired me to try and engage more wth the Justinguitar online community on my guitar journey. Looking forward to seeing you on the forums.
Great you finally stepped into the JG community as well after learning for quite a while now. You won’t regret it, this is an amazing and supportive place here.
Thanks for the welcome, and also for highlighting disturbing experience of Black Lace infiltrating my intro. TOTP84 was on in the background as I was writing, possibly uncovering deep emotional scars relating to pushing pineapples and shaking trees in my childhood. Black Grape, I feel would be more fitting.
