Hello from Somerset, UK - The Struggler

I have started to notice my foot chiming in automatically here and there, I stop when it starts to hurt, I will try and let it happen naturally

I am managing about five times a week I will do a Justin guitar practice session, I started using my Parlour guitar also as its size seems to be easier to deal with in front of a PC, hopefully down the line I will be able to trasnfer some of it over to my bigger guitars, for now `i am sticking to one guitar and getting through the practice sessions, apparently upstrums next week, so big fingers crossed for me as thats my struggle zone. Are there places on the forums where people upload videos of their struggles?

Sounds great, I am not at the playing for fun bit but hopefully the day will come when i can swop between learning and playing

I am for sure hitting those first three chords a lot currently, I think the course is about to go into Am and Em, but I will keep practing those first three like my life depends on it, honestly when my sore fingers can take the next session hahaha

The foot has started to chime in here and there on its own, i just do not force it now and thats really hard

Hello Simon.
Resetting and filling in all those gaps / resetting bad habits is a great idea if you feel you have gone off the track a little.

Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. There a whole host of golden oldies over in the dog house.
Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.

Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.

We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard

Welcome to the community, Simon. We’ve all struggled when we first started learning to play the guitar

My suggestion for you is to pick up a song that you like with 2-3 chords and use it for motivation. Then build from there.

There’s a “Community Recordings” topic in these forums where you can upload your videos. You’ll find plenty of encouragement there.
