Hi all, long time saxophonist and synthesist, but total newb on guitar (in grade one, module four). Bought an Ibanez PF200 and a distortion pedal in '81 for a punk band, never needed more than one string to make a lot of noise, and that’s as far as I got. Decided I wanted to play blues, bought a Guild Starfire in 2023, printed a chord sheet to teach myself, but didn’t get much further. Inherited my brother’s Fender steel string acoustic and my mother’s nylon acoustic and realized I have four really nice guitars in the house and I can’t play a single one. I hate when an instrument goes to waste.
Found Justin and aside from fits and starts have been making progress - I can almost play some simple A/E/D songs. Currently vowing that the Dm chord will not beat me.
Life is busy, but leaving the guitar on a stand instead of in the case allows me to pick it up several times a day, even if it’s just five minutes of chord perfect or one minute changes. That’s made a huge difference in practice time.

Welcome, Richard. I’m also in Michigan and been learning here for 3 years. Watch out, that Dm can be tricky. Every so often it trips me up playing House of the Rising Sun.
