Hi all! I'm Thomas from Germany

I’m Thomas from Tönisvorst in Germany, husband, father of a 10 year old daughter.

In my private time I enjoy being with my family, supporting Borussia Mönchengladbach, enjoy swimming in Jeans (yeah I know this sounds stupid) and only newly playing my guitar (still not to the joy of my family, as my progress of learning is somewhat slow  ).

I’m somewhat older (47) and started my guitar career only just a few months ago.

Currently I’m in Grade 2 Model 10 and I really enjoy my time practicing and learning new stuff. Originally I started to lear somewhere else, but I feel my progress and fun is far better here.

My Gear:
I started with a Yamaha C40 (which I still use for practise sometimes).
Recently I bought a used Yamaha Pacifica 112 together with a Fender Champion 20 and do not regret at all.

Happy to exchange here and improve on my guitar skills.

Welcome Thomas! Your quip about your family’s feelings about your learning guitar made me smile:

I sure know how you feel! But it won’t be long before someone says something like “Wow, that sounded pretty good!”

Hope to see you around the community.

Willkommen Thomas,

when I saw “german” I was curious if you just lived around the corner so we could play together, but it’s not the case!

Wishing you lots fun and success on your journey here!

Nice to meet you Thomas, I hope you have a great time here need help just shout out cheers HEC

Hello Thomas and welcome. Enjoy your time with your instrument and use this forum for any questions you have concerning guitar and music. Enjoy your journey.

Herzlich willkommen Thomas to this nice guitar community here and greetings from Duisburg. As I also learn on acoustic now and plan to buy an electric in future too, I’d like to hear more about it, what was it like for you to switch from acoustic to electric? Did you try more guitar types before chosen pacifica and why decided for this?
I look forward to hear more from you, maybe a recording soon?
Cheers Withold

Hello Thomas & Welcome!!!
Good to hear that you are learning & enjoying your new Journey along the path of music that you’re exploring!!!
The most important thing to remember is that you have to keep it lots of fun! As long as it’s a fun and enjoyable experience, you’ll never quit. If ever practice seems to be a chore, think of what has brought you joy & pursue that activity for a while!
Good luck!!!

Tod from New Mexico USA

Hi Withold,
the reason to buy an electric guitar is quite simple. I was just curious how it compares to an acoustic guitar. In addition, I like the sound and the options you get with it in comparison to an acoustic guitar. In the end I decided to buy a yamaha pacifica based on reviews on youtube, forum and reddit. My conclusion was that the yamaha seems to have a great value for money. I managed to get it along with the Fender amp on Kleinanzeigen for only 180€, and it is great. Basically a Squier or Harley Benton could work as well in the price range.

Welcome! I think you found the perfect place here

Hey Thomas, welcome to the community. I started at the old age of 53 and have never looked back. The reward of being able to play songs is so wonderful. I’m of German heritage, apparently I was conceived there, although I have no memory of what was a life changing experience for me.

Look forward to hearing more from you. Tony from Australia

Welcome Thomas! Hope you enjoy your guitar journey as much as I am. I started playing about 1.5 years ago and it’s coming along at nearly 72 now. You’re never too old to learn.
