Hi all, Marcel from Switzerland

Hi Marcel welcome. It looks you’re progressing well. Keep working on it and having fun. Now you can make your own guitar tracks.

Salut Marcel!
Goodness, you have a fine foundation to build your guitar fortress on, don’t you?
I had a quick dip into your EP but I’m afraid my unevolved dinosaur ears and walnut brain were ‘überfordert’. Still, I can appreciate the time and dedication required to create this.
Congratulations! :sunglasses: :tada:

20 songs already, and out busking? Hut ab, mein Freund! You are on the righteous path…

I’m always intrigued when folk pop up in the community from places I have a relationship with (Ireland, Denmark, Merseyside…). I spent the second half of my childhood in Switzerland (left in ’84) and as an old man returned on the internet to seek out Mundart rock. The three artists I settled on (and still listen to) are Mani Matter, Züri West and Stiller Has. (All from Bern).
I do believe I am the only community member to sing in Schwiitzerdüütsch, in a song I wrote a couple of years ago (at the very end as an ‘homage’ to Stiller Has)
Hop Schwiitz! :switzerland:

Haha, thank you for the kind words.

That’s why I try to learn guitar now. I want my music to get more universal, so I try to get back to basics. It’s probably not überforderung of you, it’s just not very universal music. Really great music should work on multiple layers imo.

Well Busking, not really. More practicing in semi-public, but there was once a group of kids who asked if they could give me money :stuck_out_tongue:

Cool, so you been around some places

Regarding Mani it’s hard to find video recordings of him so it was a bit of a hassle to learn without already being good at transcribing. Luckily there are some tutorials on yt and tabs on ug.

If you or anybody else would like to see me playing a song in Swiss German, just today I recorded a Mani Matter -Hemmige - song practice

Awesome :ok_hand: Very nice pronunciation. I often struggle as Zürcher to get the Bärnerisch right.
I had the luck to go to a Stiller Has concert and it was a blast.

Thanks for sharing your connection to Switzerland.

Danke:slightly_smiling_face: Sounded good, and I think the outside recording suited the song well. But I understood maybe 10% of the lyrics  The only full line I caught was the question about the differences between humans and chimpanzees :monkey:

Salut Marcel, I just listened to this again, and the blue skies with Mani Matter’s observational wit gave me a weird feeling of ‘Heimweh’, even if it’s not my home
I just checked online and see that the Aare-Temperatur is over 21 degrees. Super! What I wouldn’t give to be floating down the nicest river in Europe again on a hot summer’s day…

You played that really well, man. Good rhythmical fingerstyle. Keep it up.
Have you heard Zuri West/Stefan Eicher’s version of Dr Alpeflug?

Hoi Brian,

Sadly I’m not close to the Aare but we have a very nice lake in Zürich

Thanks for the compliment. Trying hard to learn Mani’s song as authentic as possible for a start.

Yes, I’ve heard the Alpeflug, it’s onan Album (Matter Rock) that was released last year. Some very interesting interpretations are on that album. It’s pretty cool that they did that.

Liebi Grüess usde Schwiiz

Hello Marcel. Welcome to JustinGuitar and the Community. I’m arriving late to the hello and welcome party. It’s great to read that you are learning songs and building repertoire - good on you.
The Community is large, as is the website. If you need any help with a lesson specific question or with any general guitar learning question then do not hesitate to ask. There are many good folk here who will happily offer help and encouragement to those coming up behind them on Justin’s Beginner Courses. They embody and carry the pay-it-forward ethos we have nurtured for many years in our community. There are many old hands too who have years and (hopefully) a bit of wisdom they can bring as they give their support to those hitting the road blocks - which we all do.
Just ask if you need anything.
Cheers
