Welcome in and congratulations on your milestone birthday! I hope you bought yourself a new guitar or amp (or at least some songbooks!) to celebrate the occasion.
One piece of advice I see a lot that might take some pressure off you, particularly about playing in front of others, when someone says “oh you play guitar, play me something!” They don’t usually expect, or even want, to hear the perfect note for note solo to Paradise City or Welcome to the Jungle. They want you to do one of those campfire strummers you mentioned so they can sing along.
