You can call me tonkyponky, obviously not my real name.
I’m 24, from Faridabad, Haryana, India. I have acoustic guitar since 2015, but I never bothered to learn until I found Justin in October 2023, through some online forums. I never had any offline guitar class mainly because most play classical or religious stuff. I don’t mean that they are bad, just not my taste. I play music for the sole purpose of having fun and doing justice with music while staying away from politics and religious stuff.
Now after completing my 1 year here, I really love how much I learned from playing songs which are not in my language of origin but I really love its flavour (sorry, don’t know the appropriate term lol). Example would be Wonderwall by Oasis, I know most here would be sick of it but for me its fun, entertaining and fresh.
Currently in grade 2, module 11 and working on:
Fingerstyle basics
Exploring sus chords
Happy Birthday fingerstyle
Learning to sing songs which I have learnt to play in previous modules.
I am open to learn a song together and share progress as long as its not out of scope of my skill level and preferably in English or Hindi although I’m not afraid of trying other language, so feel free to reach out.
Hoping to soon drop my first AVOYP and maybe update my profile pick.
Welcome to the community, we are at a music festival in country New South Wales and last night heard an awesome bluegrass duo from India. Yeah from India. They are called Grassy Strings, such fun. https://www.grassystrings.com/
Hi tonkyponky, welcome to the community forum. Congratulations on completing one year with Justin. You seemed to have made good progress. Good luck with your first AVOYP. I was so nervous that I put my first video in the “Beginner’s Safe Space” in the AVOYP,
Hello tonkyponky
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. https://community.justinguitar.com/categories
We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
