Hi from Jon

I started playing the guitar 4 years ago following Justin’s beginner lessons. I joined the community but never engaged with it because I just didn’t have the time and wasn’t a great user of social media. I started playing the electric guitar about a year ago after starting the BLIM course (and am still working my way through the materials a year later). It is only through BLIM and watching the various clubs video lessons that I started to see what a fabulous resource the community is and I have only been scratching the surface. I am not at a stage where I feel like I could post a recording of any blues playing but the recordings made by BLIM members encouraged me to record some videos of me playing some non blues songs - I will take the plunge and post them in the recordings section.

Welcome Jon

I’m also not a fan of social media at all and was very wary of joining the community for that reason. However, this is an extremely well moderated forum where the community is amazingly positive and supportive. It can be extremely helpful as there are players from all levels and teachers too who will give you advice and answer any questions.

Looks from your photo as if you are a biker. A few of those in the community too, including me.

Best, Ian

Thanks Ian - yep, bikes, music and golf (!), just as well I’m retired😎

welcome

Hi Jon, welcome to the community forum.

That’s a great life! Mine is currently work, guitar, bikes, and working out with weights but retirement in 4 years, so I’ll be able to drop the first one and spend more time on the others.

Welcome to the community.

Good to see you stepping out of the shadows Jon, welcome to the forum and good to see you putting some recordings out there. Also good to see another biker here as well !

Hi Jon - you made it! Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny. Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard
