Welcome to the community Tiffany!

Hi neighbor, kinda sorta (I’m in eastern Nebraska).
You stumbled on a great place to learn to play I think. Justin is a good teacher and his intro videos is a great place to start your journey.

Sounds like yer putting your time to good use.
Ya got your new instrument and ya got a place to learn to play it.
Yer on your way.
Have fun with your adventure.

fwiw, do consider having your new guitar having a set up done to it from the dealer ya bought it from. This will give you the best chance of having a guitar that ‘is’ playable. Most new guitars do need a set up too. They don’t necessarily come from the store in a playable condition.
I learned on one that wasn’t’ set up. It was very hard to play, even after I learned to play guitar. It was very discouraging to play that guitar and I suspect it hampered my learning to play. If I’d have had it set up proper I may have learned easier and faster. Just food for thought.

Welcome, from way down (2 hrs) south in Littleton! Enjoy the Yamaha!

Hey Tiffany, welcome to the community. Congrats on the new Yamaha. You’ll put the skills of learning to buy a guitar into good practice as time goes by. haha.

Look forward to hearing more from you.

Welcome Tiffany glad you found Justin’s community site. Have a great time and keep hitting it.

Hello Tiffany & Welcome!!!

I’m excited to hear from someone who lives in Ft. Collins! My daughter & her family reside in Wellington - they’re in Ft. Collins all the time!
It’s a beautiful place with the Rockies to the West & farmlands to the East! My wife & I love visiting our grandkids up there!!!

I’m also excited to know that you are so thrilled to be starting out with guitar! Is your Yamaha an acoustic or an electric? Both types are good choices! Whichever one you have, it’s a good idea to get a stand or wall hanger. Not only are guitars beautiful & inspirational to look at, if it’s ready to pick up at a moment’s notice, you can practice/play when you only have a few minutes… I like to play a song while my coffee :hot_beverage: is brewing!

Also, ALWAYS have FUN!!! The more fun you’re having, the more you want to play… the more you play, the better you get!!! Then, it’s even MORE FUN!!! :star_struck:

Good luck!!! :four_leaf_clover:

Hello Tiffany,

Good choice, IMO.

I have a Pacifica 112 I bought on 30 May 1997 for £200.00.

I’ve gigged heavily with it, treated it with care and respect and it sounds and performs as well as ever it did. Their acoustics are also value for money, in my opinion. A set up when new adds comfort and playability. Periodic servicing can add longevity.

Hope this is useful and best wishes for future success.

Regards,
Jeremy

Hello Tiffany.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community.

Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space. View by Categories.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.

If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.

Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.

Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.

We also host regular (virtual) JustinGuitar Community Open Mic events for community members.

That is plenty to be going on with. It is a vast community space so if you need help as you find your way around just ask.

Cheers. Richard
