I’ve been learning guitar for about 6 months now and ever since I started learning it, I’ve loved playing it. I practice 4-6 days a week for an hour or so. I’m probably around grade 3-4 or so. I’m currently learning to play Johnny B. Goode (With an Accoustic which is a bit harder). I don’t have an electric guitar yet but I’m definitely going to get one soon. I personally like blues the best. I’m excited to get involved in the community!
Hope all is going well for you…
Johnny B. Goode is pretty ambitious for a Beginner, especially with an acoustic!!! Be patient with yourself & if it starts to feel “too much” don’t hesitate to “put it on the shelf “ for a bit while you hone your skills!!!
Good luck with your Journey & I hope to see you achieve your goals!!!
Hans,
Just curious…
Are you originally from Iowa or are you from elsewhere? I only ask because I used to work with a guy who was from Des Moines with a Germanic last name… & his first name was Kurt… he’d get upset if anyone spelled it Curt!!!
Hi Hans
Very nice to meet you!
You’re in a great place for learning with JustinGuitar and this amazing supportive and helpful community
Looking forward to hearing more from you

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.
Also, please make sure to read the Community Etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
If you want to record yourself to show your progress and / or seek feedback there is our ever popular Community Recordings section.
Behind the scenes there is a small and dedicated team who work to make the JustinGuitar experience as good as it can be. Check out the Onboarding sessions provided by Fanny.
Justin also has a small group of Approved Teachers he recommends for people wanting 1-to-1 lessons to supplement his courses - of which I am privileged to be one.
Awesome. Which one? I had planned to wait a while before I eventually bought an electric guitar, but then I still enjoy playing the accoustic so bought a PRS SE (left handed).
Hello Hans and welcome! I’ve been already seing you around here…an introduction is always a good way to get involved in the Community. I wish you can make some guitar friends here, as I always write, we’re more than a lot, but it’s not difficult to start finding out common musical taste and genres, struggles and victories. Feel free to ask if you have any doubts or need some help.
