Hi-Simon from Nottingham, England

Hi Everyone, I’m Simon (61 years old) from Nottingham in England and joined Justin Guitar about 2 months ago, I had a few lessons about 15 years ago but found it frustrating as my teacher just wanted me to follow some books, the internet changed eveything-I tried using you tube for a while but really wasn’t getting anywhere but then read some reviews of Justin and haven’t looked back, I’ve subscribed out of pure gratitude!, such great lessons and my progression has been amazing-my wife cannot believe it-she was so amazed she got me a Yamaha Pacifica 311H for Christmas-now Ive got to learn electric as well!

Welcome to the forum Simon

Hello Simon & Welcome!

I was going to ask if you knew Robin Hood, but since you’re only 61 I guess you’re not quite old enough!!!

Seriously, Justin Guitar is the best instruction to be found… I’ve “played” for around 30 years but have only made any real, consistent progress since finding Justin about 2 years ago… stick with it & you’ll be playing well very quickly!
To all the “newbies” I always suggest that you get yourself a stand(s) or wall hanger so you can pick up your guitar & play at a moment’s notice! The extra 5-10 minutes you gain while waiting for something - I play while the coffee’s brewing - add up & help you to progress!!! I promise that I’m not the “Official” spokesman for the guitar stand industry - no monetary gain, despite what you may hear from @mfeeney0110 !!! :grinning:

Good luck with your guitar Journey!

PS Pics of gear are always welcome around here… this group loves to admire other members guitars, amps & pedals!!! I checked the Ten Commandments recently I did NOT find anything even remotely close to “Thou SHALL NOT COVET Thy neighbor’s Guitar”!!!

Well, maybe a little close

Welcome Simon! I’m biased, but I think you’ve found the right place. And you seem pretty good at choosing a wife as well! Hope you see you around the Community.

Welcome to the Community Simon.

Hi Simon, welcome. Good you found Justin Guitar. Many have learnt without Justin Guitar, but many also got frustrated his guitar learning aspirations for not having available a guitar learning resource like Justin Guitar. Stick to it to build a solid foundation and you (and your wife) will keep seeing the progress (at some points it may be a little slower). Have fun.

Hi Simon, welcome to the community forum. That was a very nice gift that your wife got you for Christmas. I know you will have a lot of fun playing it.

Hi Simon.
Welcome to JustinGuitar and this fantastic community. Please take your time to look around and get to know the wider space.

We are a supportive and encouraging group of students and guitarists from across the world. Essentially, we are all here for music and to improve as players. We truly are a ‘community’. Members help and support one another and a friendly, positive attitude underpins this. We hope that all - young or old, experienced or new players - adopt and foster the pay-it-forward ethos that Justin personifies and embedded all those years ago when he started the website and forum.

Also, please make sure to read the community etiquette announcement for some important information and guidance.
