Hi…Tamara from Ontario, Canada

Hi everyone!
I’m 46 and have been playing guitar off and on for several years. Last year, I found Justin’s courses and everything began to stick. I’m really enjoying my guitar journey, learning what I need to learn. My goal is to cover classic 60’s-70’s tunes but record them in my style…punk. I play a Les Paul Special (love the P90’s) with an Orange Super Crush.
I hope to share some videos soon.
Thanks for reading,
Tamara

Welcome to the community.

I’ve also been thinking of doing that with some classic songs from 60’s 70’sand 80’s once I’m a better player. Just starting to learn power chords, so not there yet.

First 2 I was planning are Boys of summer - Don Healey and Can’t take my eyes of you - Frankie Valli

I would love to hear that if you manage to record some and post them.

Welcome Tamara!
wish you lots of fun learning!
60s and 70s in Punk style sounds like fun!
Is there an example in the web you could point me at?
I’d also like to do some covers sometime soon, love 60s and 70s music and as far as I remember, Punk too. I would for example put Ska next to it? Now looked it up and the first link for me was this one: https://youtu.be/jnFT4kaE8O0?feature=shared
Does it roughly match the Punk you’re thinking of?
All the best, Dominique

Yeah Sweet. I started trying that stuff as soon as I started. It took a while before I could do any fast rythem or make it sound good… wait does it actually sound good yet?
Probobly not.

Cheak out the band ‘Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies.’

They are a punk Supergroup they do pure covers. Look up the members and how they formed up and you might recognize the bass in this song. You will recognize the members and the bands they are from for sure.

They are covering Jonn Denver

Here is Rancid doing The Riviaras song ‘California Sun’ on South Park. Its freaking halarious. My wife was not too thrilled about my daughter listening to it but I gave her a high 5. :metal:

Not safe for church or rehab

You will be able to rip it up soon. Practice and learn the notes on the low strings.

Funny how that happens ? He must be doing something right. Certainly pulled me in from the wilderness a good few years back. Trust the man he has a track record !
