I just signed up for the app and I’m able to download it and run it on my apple-silicon macbook air (M3 - running Sequoia 15.4). The app works perfectly, however, it clocks the CPU at 200% constantly, right from startup and even when nothing is happening on the app. It burns through my battery very quickly.
Has anyone else ever seen this problem/is it a known problem? Any advice would be welcome as my old eyes much prefer the app on my mac than on my iPhone.
Hi @bmaz, I don’t have the app at the moment, but I used to run it on an M1 without any problem (it worked a bit less fluently than on my iPhone, but it was perfectly usable). However, the app is optimised for mobile devices so maybe that’s the source of the problem.
Tagging the app developers @MusopiaApps so they can take a look at this.
AND, right next to JustinGuitar in the Mac App Store is a listing for an app that causes me to question all those days I’ve enjoyed practicing instead of just investing in a different app…
I’m pretty sure I’ve seen posts where Musopia have stated that the app is not designed / optmised for Mac. They don’t claim it to be Mac compatible either. You might have more success running the app on your phone and mirroring the screen to your Mac’s display
Unfortunately, we do not optimise the app to run on MacBook devices but it is available to download on these devices because the Apple App Store is one entity across all of their devices.
As a result, we cannot guarantee the success/performance of running the app directly on these devices but as @mattswain has mentioned above, you could try to mirror your phone/tablet to a larger screen if you prefer this for viewing.
@MusopiaApps, even though the Apple app store is one entity across devices, not all apps are available for download on all types of devices, i.e. not all mobile apps can be downloaded on a macbook. Maybe that’s something to look into?
As @GrumpyMac has expressed, it does work for some users on MacBook devices with no issues and as it has been live this way for quite some time, we would not want to disappoint those customers by removing it from the App Store on MacBooks.
Thanks to everyone who responded. @MusopiaApps — I understand your current policy, but I encourage you to consider filing a bug report or further investigating this. Since the app functions almost perfectly on Mac already, the issue may require only a small fix. Given that your app is designed to be used without hands on the device, requesting Mac compatibility doesn’t seem unreasonable. It would be a meaningful improvement for many users.
