Holding the Guitar

alternatively, it can make it uncomfortable to play electric seated and encourage standing more.

My instructor worked hard to drill me on a more classical position and that feels great with my acoustic. However I never liked it with my electric (a Les Paul - I’d probably feel differently with a different shape - note how guitarists playing a Flying V shape guitar seem to be able to sit comfortably in a classical position). So I tend to stand when I play my Les Paul.

It has always kind of irked me because I can never hold the guitar the “correct” way. Im a bigger guy and I have never been able to rest the guitar on my knee and play. My belly puts my fretting hand at too weird of an angle where I cant really fret anything. Its always standing up or sitting with a strap its the only way
