Hooray, NGD - Guild Polara Kim Thayil

Yep.

The rest are: Are You Gonna Be My Girl (Jet), Alive (Pearl Jam, played badly), Gold On The Ceiling (Black Keys), Around The World (RHCP), a lick from Weezer’s Say It Ain’t So, and the solo from Don’t Speak by No Doubt.

That’s like, just your opinion, man…

Haha.

SG’s are cool. The are all a bit samey at the low end though, either wine red, black and occasionally brown. The different ones are all very expensive here.

:exploding_head: :exploding_head: Hey JK, Wohaaa, I just sat down with a coffee and the headphones on when I saw your post. When it started it nearly blew my wig off  definately was not expecting that. What a great sound you had dialled in and I might just say some slick playing too buddy  No dust forming up the board on that one :+1: Great demo, nice guitar, love the look.

Well, that sounds great and looks cooler than an SG IMO. Nice choice. They are great looking guitars.

Happy NGD, JK
Always cool to have a new axe!
Sounding good too, although I’m guessing your Fender footpedal has more to do with the tone than the golden humbuckers
Enjoy!

hehe
that’s cool bro; SG’s aren’t my taste but I’m pretty sure people raise eyebrows about mine  I do like their sounds and accessibility. I’m just an offset/asymmetric guy. besides; you LOOK cooler holding an SG than I do!

@jkahn next up; a band?
I can see you rocking that on stage and doing the (occasional) vocal with that wonderful warm low timbre of yours. Brings me joy to see you giddy!

Looking good JK, enjoy your time together.

That looks like a fun guitar. George Harrison played a Guild in the earlier days, and I think he even invested in the company at one point. Have a great time with your new toy!

Enjoy it JK. Some great tones and fine riffage. That said, recognised only one and you shan’t get a prize for knowing which one that was

Congrats. That’s a nice looking guitar, JK. It also has its own distinctive sound. Enjoy.

Hey JK I still don’t know what a millennial or gen x y or z, is there a q ? Might be a boomer pre boomer post bomber but don’t do any of these States side birth labels and don;t give a fig!

But I know Soundgarden and that’s good enough for me !

The brand is new to me and its like an SG bred with a Tele hybrid ! Double cool, especially in that cool white. And gold accessories. Very very nice.

Skool of '56 (only label needed !)

And on that subject the demo was ripper ! You dropped @nzmetal a ā€œget one nowā€ mail !

Glad I could help kick-start your coffee Craig.

Tone is from the amp Brian, I agree! The pickups drive it though… I dialled the gain up higher than I would on my tele with these different pickups. When I tried the guitar in the shop I had it plugged into a new Boss Katana - that only reinforced that I’m happier with Fender modeller tones than Boss.

I think it would be cool to be in a band, doubt it would happen though. All the other musician friends I have are guitarists. And the randoms I see post in musician groups on facebook all seem to have dreams of becoming famous, still, regardless of their age… rather than just having fun.

Would have to be AC/DC David… where’s my prize? Oh…

You’re a rare breed Toby.

And yep, I think you’re onto something with the SG/tele hybrid thing. I think I like slightly off-kilter guitars, rather than the classic takes. My Tele is a Les Paul/Tele hybrid thing, and my Polara is a SG hybrid thing.

Glad you liked the demo too  Just a bit of playing around! Had to start with a big soundgarden riff.

I see posts like that in similar groups here, the low profile fun bands are usually more succesful/popular because of their fun level on stage

You could always try to start something of your own? perhaps starting small

I think that’s the only way it would happen. If I happened to come across a drummer that’s keen - although the only amateurs I meet are guitarists! So far, at least.

Yeah, too obvious to earn a prize, though I have listened to some of the other bands, just not enough to recognise songs.

I do try these bands that are more recent though, even those are now measured in decades. And more often than not my opinions are heretic  So best I don’t share my opinions of Pearl Jam 10, Nirvana Nevermind etc  Black Hole Sun was pretty cool if I recall correctly.
