How much time do you spend practicing guitar everyday?

Fair. But don’t pop my balloon.

I play around 3 hours a day

I do a bit of practice then stop and do something else
I come back later for another bit of practice and then stop again
and I play after dinner for half to one hour at the end of the day ^^

I can allow this time of practice because I dont work anymore

Been there (recently).
My suggestion is to start playing now

  • Go to the ā€œSongsā€ section, https://www.justinguitar.com/songs
  • Filter by your ability (or maybe just above too?)
  • Select songs you like
  • Practice those songs
  • Practice the ā€œchanges per minuteā€ and ā€œperfect chord changesā€ to enable those songs.

There’s discussion about most of them.
There are also lessons on YouTube with alternative teaching ideas.

If you have the JustinApp, you can play Karaoke to them, and slow it down as needed.
Can also do the Karaoke thing with a low cost subscription to https://www.ultimate-guitar.com

(caveat though, Karaoke can actually impede your memorization of the song–it did for me anyway)

THere’s strumming too. Lots to learn there that doesn’t involve moving to a chord fast enough.

The world of guitar is your oysters. Pry as many as you want off the bottom, and they’ll just grow back faster and thicker.

I practice about three hours a day, with a specific aim: to compose a new song. Once I find a satisfactory chord progression, I work on a solo line. Then the process of recording/editing may take four hours, sometimes more.
I also watch many guitar tutorials on YT, recently chiefly those pertaining to neo-soul and R&B chords and progressions, then usually practice along.

Over two hours a day, if you count all ā€˜guitar-related-activity’, which includes perusing and occasionally commenting on Community posts like this
Actual string-twanging?
About 20 mins :grimacing:

I am just a little more aware of practice/play time after an accident and I start up again playing in the first days/weeks, but the last time I ā€˜clocked’ how long I was working on something was … uhhh … sorry Silvia @Silvia80 still never .

But I’m really going to buy a nice hourglass :smiling_face_with_sunglasses: for … well, just a thing for 'nice on the table ’ I’m afraid

I play guitar when I can

It’s ok to have some polls just not everyday.
In any case I hadn’t voted on this one yet. About 6 mins a day. That is dedicated practice where I’m working on a specific skill. Plus I might play some other songs or some random noise.

Just as Chris says… Don’t worry about this anymore Renan… :slightly_smiling_face:

100% agree about getting into playing. When I was first learning, getting to where I could play my first song all the way through was an incredible breakthrough. Make your first songs simple ones, not dreamer songs. Work on the intro and outtro. It helps you be aware of the whole song and how you want to play it.

I spend a lot of time each day practicing new things but also lots of time playing. I’ve heard Justin and others not count the playing time quite the same and while I get that, I also find that my playing time certainly improves how I play those songs over time. The playing time is a good part of my fun time. The fun time is important as it keeps you coming back more regularly and that. makes the biggest difference of all over time.
