This is common on fingerstyle songs where the thumb is fairly independent of the other fingers.
You can look at this as two separate “tracks” with the notes with upward beams being one track, and the notes with downward beams being another.
By the way, Guitar Pro supports this using “multi-voice” mode.

I have put in a note in the bar before to complete the tie.
Sorry the audio was a bit clicky, but I was running through my laptop built-in sound card which introduced a bit of noise because I think I had set it to the wrong sample rate, but I couldn’t be bothered to re-record.

Thanks so much! I should have thought of sound pro, but I haven’t been using it much.
I wasn’t able to wrap my head around the bass note landing late in the 3rd beat.
The midi file sounds so much better than my first attempts
