The answer to everything in learning guitar is to slow down. Including slowing down the journey itself. You may need to go back to the strumming lesson in the previous module. You need to have solid foundations before moving on to the next thing.
If you are ok with 8th note strumming but this lesson has thrown up a curve ball that’s part of the journey too. Sometimes it will take several attempts to learn a new skill.
Ah oke, maybe this one… I haven’t looked at it myself but I would like to offer the solution… it has been discussed many times here but my own search function is not working well today ![]()
If this doesn’t help either, someone else will probably come and help once they find all the eggs today … ![]()

Hello @Iambotez and welcome to the Community Nate.

For 1/4s, 8ths or 16ths in 4/4 time signature, the fundamental beat remains the same … four beats per bar. That means regardless of the subdivisions, you can aim to tap your foot four times per bar on the counts of 1, 2, 3, 4.
Unless you are Martin Hayes, of course. He often does 4 with the left and 8 with the right. ![]()
Wonderful guitarist by the way… Dennis Cahill, now sadly left us.
