You’re correct. If you merge the two audio files outside of Guitar Pro and then import the combined file, it will be considered a new audio track, so unfortunately you’ll need to redo the synchronization points for that track
We know this isn’t ideal, and it’s one of the reasons why we’ve added multiple audio tracks to our wishlist for future improvements.
You’re totally right, it’s always smart to keep a copy of your file while you’re working, especially when you’ve spent a lot of time on it . Making regular copies or saving versions can really save you some headaches later!
In the unlikely event that a file goes missing, you can always recover a backup of your Guitar Pro file here:

Thanks for your questions! Here’s a quick overview:
Multiple instruments
Yes, Guitar Pro 8 allows you to compose and edit for many instruments, not just guitar. You can work with instruments from 3 to 10 strings, keyboards, drums, percussion, and much more. The number of strings and the displayed tuning will automatically adapt to your choice.
Custom tunings
There’s no limit you can set any tuning you like, just like on a real guitar.
Preset / sound used by Justin
It’s a bit tricky to know exactly, but it looks like he used the “Clean Strat” preset. All presets are accessible from the Track Inspector on the right-hand side of the Guitar Pro 8 window.

Hi, I am not able to get the bars to line up with an audio file when there is a pickup bar at the beginning. For example, I am trying to transcribe ‘Blues in G’ by BB King, and there is a very short phrase before the ‘1’ of the first full bar. I tried Control-Click->Bar->Anacrusis but that seems to mark all the bars as Anacrusis. I tried highlighting and selecting the first bar, but it still applied that anacrusis setting to all bars. If I ignore that setting and make the ‘first bar’ shorter and then line up the rest, the bars get out of alignment after a few measures and its a pain to have to mark each bar like in Transcribe.
When you have a pickup bar whose duration is shorter than a bar you can drag the [ symbol to the left, creating extra ‘padding’ space for the audio track.
Here is an initial setup.
I have arranged the score to have one bar on the first row and designated this as the anacrusis. Then bars are fixed four per row. I have put key signature G on the score too. I have zoomed in on the audio track and expanded it upwards for a bigger view.
I am going to drag the [ leftwards in order to expand the padding. I don’t know how much initially - I just need to make space in front of the audio track because the recording does not begin with either space or a full bar. I have filled the first few bars with 8th rests.
