Sending my very best wishes and thoughts, Jason. I hope, everything went well and you’ll get back to health very soon. I keep my fingers crossed that everything will turn out ā€œfineā€ in the end.
I know, what I’m talking about.
All the very best for your recovery.
Yesterday, when I read your post whilst travelling, I didn’t have a guitar around to play a song - I hummed a melody instead. Hope that counts too !

Hi everyone. Sorry I was unable to update until just now. Wow, you all are so amazing with this out pouring of comments and the kindness. I have only been able to do quick glances to my phone here and there but not enough to write anything out yet. It really makes a difference personally to have such a team of fellow musicians and artists behind me sending me some mojo. It really gave me confidence and still does and I am so thankful for the kind words. Its exactly what I needed going into the OR and going into this next stage.

Post op day 1.

I am feeling a lot better this morning. They removed 100% of the tumor in one shot. It was encapsulated. So another sign of a slow grower type, indicating benign. :crossed_fingers:t2:

I have been up doing laps around the unit, a little shaky. I also have produce urine and have good sensation and strength in both legs and finally I have some bowel sounds. These are the things I needed to do for discharge.

Mission accomplished.

There is regular surgical pain but I just noticed my leg has not gone numb this morning a single time, which is totally amazing.

I have not seen the surgical team this morning for rounds but I fairly confident I will go home mid day some time. I will be starting PT soon. And rehab. After 2 weeks. No rest, Oh yeah, bring it. I honestly need to be super carful not to over do it.

Again, thank you so much everyone

Your support is highly valued and appreciated.

I was discharged from the hospital this morning and I am home now. My neurosurgeon is really happy with the surgery. the official diagnosis won’t be given until the tumor is tested but it’s pretty clear now especially after visualisation.

The gross pathology photo of it is really cool. And also the surgical wound site. If anyone wants to see them. I have no problem sending the photos in pm. I don’t mind posting them up but maybe posting them might be too gnarly for people not used to seeing stuff like that.

I can already notice a difference with some of my prior issues. My right leg was going numb throughout the day starting as soon as I got up. Today I did laps in the post-op surgical watch floor and I didn’t have a single incident, it been a number of years since thats been happening happened.

I am trying to keep my eyes open so meds are telling me to wrap it up.

Awful stuff this Jason. Hope the surgery went well and wishing you a speedy recovery. You have my full empathy and If it’s of any consolation, I’m also recovering from an injury. Multiple fractures on a number of different vertebrae’s hence unable to hold the guitar atm. When you feel up to it, get stuck in to the reading material available. In any case, that’s what I’m up to. Take care <3

Hang in there man!
You sure do got the wanna, so it shall be-ah.
So glad to read it was benign :party_popper:

Did back surgery some months back. Had to rearrange how I held the guitar.
Guitar is mighty-fine medicine I found.

unsolicited advice: walk early, walk often.
I found that I disappeared into guitar, and so forgot to walk to keep limber.
If you’re computer nerdy (as I am) I love this bit of Open Source freeware called Stretchly
A friendly message appears on your screen ā€œlook out the windowā€, ā€œstretch your handsā€ ā€œclose your eyes and focus on breathingā€, etc. You program how often you want to be nudged.
Here’s a link to the guy who wrote it, but it can be downloaded from so many places too

Godspeed on your recovery :folded_hands:

Yes is the hospital menu. Cool right? You just scan the QR code and it takes you to the hospital cafe. Then you can order anthing you want.

I had a asparagus chicken salad one night. Tasty
