Hi all! Sorry for the spam (2 videos in 2 days), hope you enjoy
I’m also at the stage where I think I can maybe do a performance or two. I’m currently playing in a band but never done a gig by myself, any feedback on where I can improve is greatly appreciated!!
Hi Abhishek, it’s not spam…recordings are always welcome! But we have the rule of only 1 Topic per month in the AVOYP section; what users usually do is edit the first topic adding the new video link and adding the title too, if you can’t edit the title please ask the Moderators, we will be happy to help.
I’ll take some time later on to listen to your recordings…thanks for sharing your progress with us!
Ok Abhishek, you got another hit! Love April Come She Will. Great job again singing and playing. No issues there. Only thing I can think to add to your videos is look more into the camera from time to time. I know these 2 songs were more on the serious side, but a bit of a smile is good too. I do the same thing; so focused on making a recording, especially without making mistakes for me is hard, and I forget to smile. Otherwise, spot-on perfect!
Thank you so much! Haha, I do get very conscious looking at the camera and super focused on the music, but thank you for the suggestion, I’ll try doing more of it
Thank you so much Silvia! Im not familiar with what PPIM is so I’ll try and explain it to the best of my ability -
The song is primarily travis picking (as you probably already figured out). The thumb is constantly playing the bass note and the 5th of the chord (the open D string). The basic pattern is as follows -
Thumb (bass) + index (G string)
Middle finger (B string)
Thumb (Open D)
Thumb (bass) + middle finger (B string) - I use hammer ons here for the melody
If interested, I’m happy to make a quick tutorial video of it
No I didn’t figure it out as I know only the name of it but I’m not familiar with the technique yet…you’ve inspired me to approach it as I love fingerstyle! Not sure when though!
Yes, I was aware of this by observing your fingers.
Pima is the Classical Guitar/Fingerstyle notation for the right hand fingers and comes from the italian words Pollice, Indice, Medio, Anulare (= Thumb, Index, Middle and Ring finger).
