I'm using Claude Code as my personal guitar coach/teacher

I thought people might find this interesting. When I start up Claude Code I ask it to read SKILLS.md and my last 2 practice journals and tell it how long I want to practice. It then creates a plan for that day. I follow it, give my feedback of what I did/didn’t do, did/didn’t like and what else I did out of my own inspiration. It then writes a clean journal of what I did to use that as context for my next practice lesson.

I was noodling too much and was too lazy to do this myself. What a time to be alive.

Cool. I’ve been using chatgp for some coaching with music and it’s wrong often enough that I don’t trust it as much as I do with other topics (like coding). Nice markdown usage.

Very interesting. Please keep us informed about how you go.

You know that Justin has a Practice Assistant on the website?

Interesting use of Claude, I mostly use it for coding at work

I’ve made good progress with my practicing using Gemini for helping me push through problem songs and riffs though. I take a picture of the tabs, upload it and it gives me tips on learning approaches. I did at one point have it building a practice plan but I decided to just go back to my own routine. I recently pushed through a plateau where I was stuck on a riff massively out of my comfort zone (string skipping, 130bpm) through it’s advice.

I must admit AI agents are excellent for this sort of stuff.

I guess what I really really love about it is this: I’m an infrastructure operator for a living. I don’t want to interact with comptuters for fun. I don’t want to use a website to journal or organize my practices. I just want a bigger brain.

Last night I did not want Claude to create lessons at all. But I did want to journal what I had worked on. I decided to take a side trip into Justin’s grade 4 blues course, so I did that for 45 minutes. then just told claude about it. and said “journal it, commit it to github, bye” and that’s the level of friction or lack of friction that I desire.

and @tony - Markdown is the way and the light

Indeed. and mkdocs material is my html documentation generation from markdown
