I would never consider People Get Ready as shredding. A few good solos, but Rod made the song.

I didn’t say it was shredding. just that it was a collab. and shows a different side of Jeff Beck. FWIW, the album that song was on (which I have on cd) was derided as being too 80’s and synth’y for Jeff Beck and that for him being the title artist, he was too much of a sidekick in all but the last song.
YM is way too full of himself, and says many unhelpful things regarding how he came to be good at playing guitar (he’s never practiced apparently - yeah, right). However you can’t deny his talent. I can’t name any of his songs.
JB was completely different.
Here’s Beck’s similar take on the issue. And once again, the last line (by the writer, not by Beck) is funny.
