In the old days, you’d put an ad in the melody maker looking for band members. These days? Is it OK to do that on here?
I have half a band - and looking for a lead guitarist.
I’m a rhythm player - and vocalist. We have a percussionist and we also have a sometimes bassist, who has agreed to do gigs with us.
We are looking for a lead guitarist, who is OK with doing some back up vocals - also happy to share vocals if you’re dying to sing. Creative input very much encouraged, as we’re aiming for a proper creative collaboration.
We do strictly originals and aiming for a post punk sound; Pixies, Breeders, Bunnymen, Slits, possibly, Go-Gos, XTC, Velvets - that sort of thing. Poppy post punk kinda thing - nice chord progressions and melodies, but with an edge and guitar driven.
I’ve got about 10 songs written, some of which are utter cringey drivel and some of which are ace - and just need rearranging to add a dynamic quality - maybe new beats/ rhythm - faster, slower, or more stripped back.
We are in NE London - currently practice fortnightly. I should mention we are 2 women in our 50s, that might be an issue for someone, it might not.
As I mentioned, I do hope it’s acceptable to post this here - not sure what other options there are to look for band members.
I’ve posted a few things in AVOYP where I’m playing acoustic - but planning on playing my lovely Gretsch at gigs.
