I have watched that lesson. and I’m working on it. I just haven’t been able to get myself that comfortable with the guitar mechanics of a song AND the lyrics at the same time.
and honestly, maybe I won’t be able to, at least not broadly speaking? my instructor, who is an amazing guitarist, can’t do it at all.
Hi Nate and wife, I showed your video performance to my wife today and she wanted me to let you know that she really enjoyed it. She said that it made her day.
You folks look like your having a great time making music.
Very well done!
Playing with others is a not yet accomplished goal of mine too. Your very lucky you and your wife are both musical. That is a unique situation for the good of all I think.
Congrats on you and your wives first public recording. It went exceedingly well.
The ukulele and guitar work very well together in your tune. Plus, your wife also sings very good.
We live in a pretty musical community. Even if we didn’t have each other, there are both ukulele groups as well as guitar and other mixed-instrument public groups and especially events. We really live in an area with a very rich heritage in that regard. I’m still pretty limited in playing with others. There are only a few songs I can do. Amusingly a lot of the songs that I can play (and do so reasonably well) aren’t songs that people tend to play in groups. I don’t do many songs like this one that are a pretty consistent strum all the way through.
It’s been a really mixed bag in other places we’ve lived. Almost 20yrs ago, my wife was in a flute choir in one place we lived. She enjoyed that a lot but didn’t find flute to be an instrument she enjoyed at home on its own. Occasionally she thinks about including it with some of the music she does on ukulele, especially when she’s playing with a group, but passes because she’s out of practice. She has some friends in a ukulele band (the u-bass player is the mayor of a town nearby - ha!) and one of the band members plays ukulele and keyboard and occasionally includes flute in their stuff. So it can definitely be done if she was motivated to do it.
I’ve occasionally considered picking up a trumpet to see how much of that I could remember from when I was a kid. Or even keyboard from my college days. I’m probably a lot more likely to get a keyboard of some kind. But I’m in a groove with guitar right now and I don’t want to interrupt that.
