Hi Jeff. Yes, your third song is definitely the best of the bunch. Well done on that.
You comment that you don’t get many views/replies to your AVoYPs. Perhaps people would be more inclined to view/reply if you didn’t give the impression that you’d put minimal effort into the practise/performance.
I mean this in a supportive way Jeff.
You got the groove of that songs - and you managed signing as the “second instrument” added over the guitar very well - I guess singing along is really hard! Very well done!
One thing to try, though it may sound crazy, is to play guitar in the dark. I did this when I first started learning to stop looking at my hands nonstop and it taught me to trust my hands to feel the fret board and position. I think Justin has a video about "feeling the fret board. Of course we all have to look sometimes, especially if the chords of the song are new to you. This technique forces you to use your senses other than your eyes.
I appreciate you listening to my music and thanks for the kind words.
Your comment is exactly what I needed to hear. Saying things like that does indeed put the wrong message out that I didn’t put effort to master the song. If I feel that way or lack confidence it is probably better not to post until I do additional work and practice. I need to improve my confidence overall, because I have gotten better in general, if I compare it to my last version of that song.
By the way, any advice on how to start learning soloing? I can’t seem to do it after 2+ years of trying, even had a private teacher a couple years back.
Thanks Andreas. I think that was what was missing in the past. For a long time my music sounded more mechanical than rhythmic or “getting the groove” as you said. Justin’s SOS strumming course was really helpful to change that. Have a great week!
This is a good comment. I have a couple of videos that at the end I have said a comment like “I know this is stupid”, “yea this sucked” I even said “I am lame” and they all got ziltch. I dont think I connected the enthusiasm of my own self to enthusiasm of the viewers until now. It really makes sense. Even though one of these videos I was really talking about the tone of the pickups not my playing it still came off as I was talking about me.
Wow thats really something I am going to need to work on is bashing my self on video. Actually in life. I am not a little child getting yelled at by my dad anymore. Whopps tmi Lol.
Yes agreed. Gordon is a smart guy and he’s not shy to tell it like it is. I agree that I need to work on that for life in general. Confidence and positive self-talk is a good thing. So we both need to start off with, “listen to this friggin awesome ish. It will blow your mind”
Yeah self confidence goes a long way. Thats probably why I ripped so hard when I was young and riding pro. Now I am just a middle aged regular guy, trying to keep up with the youngsters.
