yeah I read about this one yesterday evening but since you re talking about it too , I will try it
thanks for the tip
Solid recording and definitely in the pocket. Yeah the power chords could be a little dirtier but its more about the playing and that was one of your best.

I edited the video with Garage Band
It was fun to do
is it better with this kind of sound for the power chords ?
I’m really impressed. Timing and everything was great. I’ve been playing this one and singing it which holds me back a bit. You are way ahead of me.
I’m very impressed by the quality of the sound and your guitar is perfectly mixed with the backing track. The tone of your Gretsch is really lovely.
What’s your recording setup?
Best, Ian
Hi Deborah! Really late to the party, but nevertheless wanted to let you know, that I really liked this one. You are taking big steps, every video shows great progress. Great rhythm, spot on, smooth changes, decent finger picking and a great tone on your guitar. What’s not to like?
Oh and here I thought you didnt answer because you didnt like my singing
wait … Im not singing

here is a picture
guitar plugged into the pedal board
pedal board plugged into the amp
amp ( a Vox MV50 Brian May edition ) plugged into a Bughera power soaker
Power soaker plugged into the scarlett solo
Scarlett solo plugged into the computer ( Mac mini m1 )
I listen with a headphone plugged in the scarlett solo
for recording I use OBS
I create a scene where I record 3 things :
- the backing track from Yousician or the JG app
- the scarlett solo ( sound of the guitar )
- the camera
For this song I used this pedal :
Now Im trying to sort out how to add Garage band amps into the mix ^^”
Definitely sounding better with a little distortion and makes them more prominent.
Listen to a few rock songs or Justin’s song lessons where he uses power chords to get a feel for the sound. Which at the end of the day is personal and we all have different taste. Experiment until you find a sound/tone that resonates with you. Hope that helps.
Thanks Deborah for the detailed photo and description of your rig. It’s a great setup. The tone is very nice and the recording quality too. You have built a really nice sounding setup. What does the Bugera power soak do? It’s an attenuator?
Regarding a bit of distortion for the power chords, that some people mentioned, I think you have a Blues Driver on the pedal board next to the compressor (?). That would give enough distortion to sound nice for the power chords wouldn’t it?
Also if you had the Blues driver on already for the finger style part and then just increased pickup volume a bit for the chords, it should break-up nicely. The Blues Driver is good for that - I know, easier said than done. I wouldn’t be fast enough to change the guitar volume knob just at the right moment, but some people are. I have enough trouble trying to switch a pedal on and off with my foot at the right time. That means I’m not a multitasker either!!!

yes it is . I can push the amp without it screaming in my ears

yes it is ( again XD )
Boss blues driver I usually use it for a whole song , I need to practice switching it on and off for power chords

not me XD
I can t do it
thanks to all the comments to this video I ve learned quite a few things ^^
I added to my practice schedule how to switch on and off a pedal while playing a song
I should find a way to use more distortion with garage band ,( so many amps in there )
using garage band is easy , how to record with it with my set up is for the moment a mystery to me
I learned how to edit a video and synchronize audios
Oh, I love this song! Nice job, Deborah! That’s a great fingerstyle picking. And your recording looks really professional! Well done
Hi Deborah, this sounds great. Your hours and hours of practice really show in your recordings. The rhythm is so consistent and the timing is rock solid. You are getting a great tone with the fingerpicking. The thumb pick really clarifies the lower notes. I have a thumb pick and should use it, but it cuts off my circulation Your consistant practice shedule has really paid off.
It is indeed! You can experiment with different settings on your amp and pedal to find the crunchy sound you like.
