Mac's learning log

Ah no no no !
I did NOT mean it was a bad thing
I really enjoyed all the rock songs and I think the audience too !
But the variety of songs was so different that soft guitars sounded too soft sometimes
Maybe it was better in a headphone or speakers
At home i projected the laptop screen on my tv so i had the tv volume
( thats why i logged out and used a different computer )

Hi Deborah, just watched your performances, you did great, getting up in front of people can be very daunting, and dealing with a load of tech stuff at the same time for sound and camera just adds to it. You played really well and the sound mix was :+1:.

Look forward to watching next time. Once I’ve got through BLIM I’ll see if I can get the courage up to have a go.

in fact its the very same tech you need for recording an AVOYP ^^
I just added my computer’s speakers for the backing track and a mic to record it

weirdly enough the sound of Zoom was not coming back in my headphone so I had to put it through my speakers too

thanks a lot
my mother was a big help all week , we did sound checks together ^^
at the last minute I just lowered the power soaker a bit since Toby thought the guitar was maybe a tad too loud

Having seen how you are playing now IMHO you would certainly fit well into BLIM so class 4 in January might be perfect for you! If in doubt why not ask @Richard_close2u or @Dave_Birnie for their thoughts.

I heard that Blim is recommended for grade 4 or end of grade 3 atthe minimum

I think that is entirely down to where an individual is in their playing capability and wantingl to learn something new. Also how much time you have to practice should be considered IMO. I am retired and can easily give 2 to 3 hours a day to it if I wish, somedays I do more others less. I think Justin recommends at least 45 minutes 3 days a week, bit I think that’s just doing the must do stuff.

From what I have seen on your videos, you can play rhythm comfortably, move those fingers around the neck as you demonstrated in the Open Mic session, and also have a pretty strong practice ethic. For me I don’t see why you would not fit it well, but that’s my opinion.

I played the blues at the OM because it was module 13 practice and I loved it

since that module I tried to learn some licks and a turnaround and learned how to bend too
but only at a beginner level , Im practicing Wonderful tonight for that reason
easy beginner bends

If you are referring to module 13 of Grade 2 and have started trying bends already then it would be worth taking a look at Justin’s BENDING TECHNIQUE IN BLUES this is in Grade 4, but getting the technique right is important and best to learn good technique from the start.

I had been doing bends for various songs I try and play but often incorrectly up to now, previously I had practiced getting the right pitch but often was not muting correctly or getting other string noises. BLIM starts addressing this as the beginning and then vibrato technique.

yes module 13 in Grade 2

thanks for the video I will watch it

I already learned a bit about bends and vibrato with my guitar teacher
once I had the rythm right for Born under a bad sign , he told me to add vibrato
and its really not easy :open_mouth:

16 august 2025

Still too hot to play
its 28°C inside and outside it was crazy …

I tried to play some piano but had to give up after a few minutes , I almost fainted
couldnt stand on my legs , felt dizzy

I practiced a bit Greensleeves and a finger picking melody on my Sonoran but nothing more than practices of 10 minutes

Cool weather should be back on wednesday !
I just cant wait

Good to hear things cooled down enough so you can heat up your playing, Deborah . . . I know, Sunday afternoon and that was a terrible play on words.

If I want to play the whole song I need to learn the melody by heart first
