Mac's learning log

Deborah, congratulations on getting the scholarship for the BLIM4 class. You have put in a lot of work so I know that you will do well and learn a lot in that class. I have put my name on the waiting list for next year so I will follow your progress.

Hi Deborah, I understand. I knew that the BLIM is kept separate so as not to confuse the newer members of the community. I should have said that I look forward to seeing and hearing the playing that results from all of your BLIM studies. Have fun.

Also I wanted to share a recent discovery of mine. I had injured my right shoulder recently and was finding it uncomfortable to play my guitar (Strat.) on my right knee playing blues rhythms with palm muting. I switched to holding the Strat on my left knee (Classical style as I am right handed) and found that I could lower the body of the guitar which also lowered my right shoulder and resulted in a lot less pain. That may not help you, but I wanted to mention if there was a small chance it might be helpful.

Deborah, the is a nice before BLIM solo. You have already absorbed a lot of good blues skills already, especially playing in rhythm with the backing track. I think that you will do well and learn a lot in the BLIM class.

Also, congratulations on the new guitar, amp and pedal. I’m sure they will add to the fun of playing and learning blues.

I hope that the medical procedure goes well this week.

I switched to holding the Strat on my left knee
[/quote]

I do that when I use my Red special , I put it on my left knee
I havent tried to play the strat in that position though
Im used to stand up when playing now , its very comfortable

When I use my little acoustic I use it in the classical position with the neck high
its a great position to play though Its true that I still feel some pain in the right shoulder when I play this way

the accoustic guitar is really the one killing my right shoulder

There’s a ghost bend to do , Its not easy so I need to practice it otherwise the second part he taught me today is not too hard

I dont know if Ill be able to play tomorrow , I have a appointment at the hospital with a surgeon in the afternoon regarding my 2 thrombosis in my left leg
Im scared :fearful:

I’m sure it will all go smoothly, although going under anaesthesia is always scary. I’ve only done it once myself and I wasn’t a fan…

:crossed_fingers:I’ve got my fingers crossed for you and I’m putting out good vibes. You will have an easy surgery and a swift recovery! You are strong! :flexed_biceps:

(It’s from playing all that guitar.)

today should only be a meeting but I am already afraid of whats to come after

thanks for your sweet words

surgery is scheduled for mid and end of march … 2 surgeries … one for each legs …. :scream:
the doc told me to avoid standing up playing for hours after so since I really cant play sitting down Im trying to change my practice routine and try to play one hour only but 3 times a day

Tuesday was my guitar lesson with my teacher
He gave me 2 more verses to work on
I need to listen a lot to the song to get the tempo to stick in my memory

Im trying audacity at the moment and I like it
I just hope its not a 7 days trial
it has more options than slow downer so its better when practicing

I dont have the right timing on a slide in Wonderful tonight so I decided to mute the sound on my guitar and play without sound over the backing track until I get the right timing

It shouldn’t it’s an open source program. I have it sitting here on my PC for ages, they never asked for a penny ^^

In unit 1 of BLIM there was a song by Robert Johnson
I found another version of the song on Youtube and I’d really like to learn to play it this way

I am starting with the intro , its a bit difficult but with patience maybe Ill get it right ^^
Ive never played a song on my Sonoran so its kinda new and different from my electric guitar
