Maybe that’s what I like about having an iPad as my main computing device - it doesn’t remind me of my work laptop!

I like my big tv like size work screen and I can use it with my fingers like a tablet , I just love it
really useful to practice guitar
WT : I can now link the partI already know and the problematic part
I still make some mistakes but I progress
I ll keep working on this before I start learning the rest of the song just be be on the safe side
I can now play 5 mins 18 at 70% speed ( the song last 8 mins 30 )
OTB : Way easier to play with the backing track instead of just GP
I still have to work on the barre chord slide though
I can play 5 mins 20 ( the song last 6 mins 10 ) but its far from perfect
I had huge migraines for the past 3 days
way too much pain and tension in my arm and shoulders too
so its a vicious circle
Migraines and pain = I can t focus = I make mistakes = Im frustrated = I get even more tensed = more migraines and pain = more mistakes
yesterday evening I put a hot water bottle on my shoulders / back for 20 minutes and it released the muscles , it did me a lot of good
I ll try to do it every day
Sorry to read how these migraines are effecting your daily life Deborah…I can just share some words of mere understanding.
Have you considered to do shorter practice sessions using a timer? What I mean is just a few minutes in just one or two items of practice, as best as you can and then have some rest, get back to your guitar later on for other short sessions during the day.
The heat works great for releasing the tension on the neck and shoulders’ muscles . For a few years during winter I couldn’t sleep without this on my pillow - it turns off by itself.
Since I’m going to the Gym my pain has “changed”, it’s now much more bearable and I seldom use heat (I’ve got something on my left shoulder the RMI spotted and doc said reinforcing the muscles to support the bones is the way to go for me).
1 hour on Wonderful tonight then a break for exercices
30 mins to 1 hour on On the beach then a break for exercices
1 hour on BLIM then a I call it a day
Wonderful tonight is complex to learn , I have several things to do and it takes time
1 / I work on the new arpeggios to learn ( or RIFF , it depends of where I am in the song )
2/ I try to link the new part to the part before and if I have time to the part further before
3/ I work on the problematic parts
4/ I try to link all the parts by playing the whole song as far as I know it
my biggest issue is being greedy
sometimes I try too hard on playing the whole song
Its usually ok the first time I play it with maybe 1 or 2 mistakes which are expected but then … I try to play it again and this is what I shouldnt do
I know I shouldnt play it more than once if the result is satisfying !
I dont follow my own rules …
there’s no way I can reduce my practice to just a few minutes ^^”
but I can at least try to follow the rules I ve set …
Trying too hard on a song brings nothing good !

Lucky you !
Going to a gym can do wonders
I cant do it , I start having migraines just walking to the end of my street and its the same as playing guitar , trying too hard just make them worse
My physio used to put something real hot on my back for 15 minutes to loosen the muscles and I just loved it but since the Covid period he comes at home so i dont have the heat pack anymore
I never thought about using the water bottle instead until yesterday

same for me here
I wish my head would let me exercise in peace XD
its only in the evening that I remembered the trick my guitar teacher taught me to play the D/F#**
easier than a barre chord but I did manage to play it in a barre chord form today ^^
G can sacrifice the top E string note. D/F# can sacrifice the top E string note and be an easier grip.
The crucial element is G to F# to E in the bass on beats 1, 2 then 3.
my teacher taught me to grab the low E string with my thumb over the neck and to just do a regular D with it and it works ^^
I tried the barre chord form too and to my big surprise I did it !
well of course its only 70% of the regular speed but since its a slow song it should be do able too
i think I ll go with the thumb over the neck and if after a week I dont get it right ( i mean with the flow of the song ) I ll try your solution ^^
Its amazing to realise there s always a solution to something that looks difficult at first
