No gritting here in rural Normandie and the main roads don’t seem to ice up. back road certainly can. But you are then playing Russian Roulette with the next patch of black ice. Fortunately our house is on a favourite riding route on the Britany borders and the drive and courtyard are gravel. So unless its double digits I don’t take the risk.
Ha ha. Actually I’m even more of a wussy. I’ve got heated gloves and jacket for the winter.
That sounds good, Matt. The guitar looks nice, too. I’ve always been a fan of classic designs, but these headless models are slowly growing on me.
One thing I can recommend is to start learning the actual guitar part, not the Yousician simplified one. The earlier you start, the sooner you’ll get to playing it up the tempo. It’s not the easiest song, especially at first, but it’s awesome for developing quick power chord changes and relaxed fast strumming. Just start slow and grab some patience. It’s gonna take a while (speaking from experience), but in the end it’s worth it.
Thank you for listening and for your feedback.
At some point I will move on from the simplified version but I’m not ready yet. I think my next step will be to take this version and make sure I can play it accurately without looking at my left hand. I’ve not yet played enough power chords to have built that muscle memory. That’s something to work on over the next month or two.
I do however agree with you about not completely relying upon Yousician or I’ll depend on it forever. Taking this simplified song and playing it through my amp rather than the app is a first step on that road. It’s not greatly different to what I’ve done with acoustic guitar, initially relying entirely upon YouTube videos and gradually learning to figure songs out for myself.
I’ve been practicing a riff as part of the Yousician level 5 version of Thunderstruck. It’s in the intro but not the main one that Angus plays. I’ve been trying to down pick it all but struggling for consistency. Decided to give alternate picking a try today and think it might be the way to go. Once I’d got the general pattern under my fingers it quickly got better results
My playing time has been more limited this past week, recovering from being ill, really bad sleep for 2 weeks has taken its toll but starting to get back to normal.
ho you ve been sick ?
i hope its nothing serious
Thanks
I don’t know what it’s been. I’ve spent the past two weeks coughing and coughing and coughing… morning, noon and night which is why I’ve had very little sleep. I feel quite drained from it. I’ve paused all of the yoga I do and just been doing a little bit of guitar practice just to keep the habit going
I’m definitely better than I was, could just do with a really good night of deep sleep
